So, if you could meet a single musician, living or dead, solo or of a band, who would it be?

Personally I would want to meet Jimi Hendrix the most, he's a guitar god, and at the same time a great musician and song writer, I would try to learn as much as I can from him, be it playing the guitar or just becoming a better musician.

    Who is yours?

If he were living, I would like to meet George Harrison.

Either Marc Bolan or Bon Scott (both dead, unfortunately). Out of the living, I'd say Keith Richards or Angus Young, who I hold as the greatest guitarists of all time (with Chuck Berry).

There are too many to consider!

Layne Staley (deceased singer from Alice In Chains): I'd like to ask him what drove him to die the way he did.

John Bonham (Led Zeppelin's deceased drummer): So i could ask him what really happened at Jimmy Page's house the night he died. Also too congratulate him on being an amazing drummer. Also would attempt to get him to come out for a drinking binge.

Maynard James Keenan (Tool & A perfect circle): So i could tell him he is an arrogant idiot, but that i really appreciate his music.

Hendrix: Because i play guitar, and every guitar player wants to meet Jimi.

Elvis: Just so i could brag about it too my father

Jim Morrison: Just so i could brag about it too my girlfriend.

Ozzy: I've nearly met the guy on a few occasions already, but i'd just like to find out how much of an act he puts on for his Tv show vs his real life persona.

Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails): Apparently he is actually quite a nice guy on a 1 to 1 basis. I'd like to talk to him about equipment and boring technical stuff.

Liam Gallagher (oasis singer): Just so i could tell him how much i hate his singing voice.

And many, many more that i cant think about at the moment.

Andre 3000 (of OutKast), because he is one of the greatest musicians of this time.

Cee-lo (of Goodie Mob & Gnarls Barkley), because he is one of the greatest musicians of this time (together with Andre 3000)

Big Gipp (of Goodie Mob & Kinfolk) so I can tell him he should stop with Kinfolk, and devote his time to the Goodie Mob reunion album.

Killer Mike , because he is the best rapper of the Dungeon Family second generation.

Sleepy Brown , best R&B singer of this time.

Toots Thielemans: Don't know if you know him, but he's a very good jazz musician. He's most famous for his harmonica solos, who hasn't heard of Bluesette? There's a fair chance I run into him once since he's Antwerpian and never got "star allures". Apparently he's just a regular old guy, he's getting near to ninety now, untill you give him a harmonica. Then you get this:

Quite a few different musicians really:

Billy Corgan My favorite song writer (and curiously for most people, singer. It's err a little unorthodox)

Tom Morrello of Rage against the Machine and Audioslave fame, he's one helluva talented technical guitar player. I share his political views too somewhat.

Jack Black because he's so darn funny.

Dave Grohl because he's massively prolific in band membership/cameo and a talented player and writer, ontop of that an all round nice guy.

Chris Cornell because he's my second favorite singer, and has been the frontman in two of my favorite bands.

Probably a few others I guess though...

David Gilmour. Pink Floyd's guitarist for their most seminal albums, "Dark Side of the Moon" and "The Wall"; its his guitarwork on that solo in Comfortably Numb (actually pretty much all the solos after Barret left/was left are his); "Division Bell" is mainly his work; and he has continued despite the breakup of the band to play, recording "On an Island", and appearing with the band (including Roger Waters) in Live8.

    • Paul McCartney - in my opinion the best all around musician of all time, his work is timeless. And he seems to be a pretty cool guy.
    • Rhah: Liam Gallagher - so I could tell him how much I love his singing
    • Ringo Starr - because he's awesome
    • David Gilmour - great guitarist and a good songwriter. I don't think Floyd was such a great band until Barrett left and Gilmour came in. Then it got good.
    • Kurt Cobain - so I could ask him if Courtney killed him, or why he chose to kill himself with a shotgun when pistols are a lot more convenient. Also, he seems like an ... interesting fellow to know.
    • Dave Grohl - talented and all around cool, and one of the best drummers ever.

Its two different styles; Barrett was psychedelia, Waters and Gilmour were rock.

The difference being, Barrett sucked and Waters and Gilmour didn't.

Barrett wasn't as good as Gilmour, no; but I might point out also that the real problem was he couldn't deal with success and got drugged up &c and couldn't handle it.
