Hello there.
Foreword:
I've had and also read a lot about campaign map CTD's so far. It happens like every 60 turns to me and is, mostly or like 100% caused by the Macedons ( why is that ?
). It got really annoying to always start a new campaign so i searched the forums and found this thread where "frozen" did a great job solving the problem:
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...t=campaign+ctd
Unluckily, it is not in the STICKY yet. So i suggest to either add this one or mine, of course with the credits for this belonging to the user frozen or whoever found this trick out.
HOW TO END CTD'S THAT ARE CAUSED BY A BROKEN CHARACTER/FACTION
First thing you need to do is to find out when and where the CTD happens. So what you start with is "toggle_fow" ( if youre not using it/ the command lets you see the entire map). After that is done, go to "Game options" and enable "Show AI moves".
DO NOT speed up your game ( you can do this if its the 2nd or 3rd < time you need the "replay" (end of the round) to figure out, which "broken character" causes the crash.
When you found the charactermove that causes the CTD (it can be more than one!), there is two possibilities:
1. You can see the Character because he is either standing on a plain or attacking a city and you can therefore read his name right on the campaign map.
2. You can NOT see the charatcer because he is either hiding in a forest/ being moved as a "new captain" out of a former army/ he has been in a city ( to me it seems that its mostly Family Members that cause the CTD's so that "new captain" thing is rather unlikely).
I. How to find out the characters name if he is "hiding" and how to solve this:
II. How to "remove" the character from causing the CTD by moving him to another position:
Last but not least:
Leave the "" out of every command you type in the console.
ENJOY=)
