    Default The Curia (89 BCE)

    The Curia, Rome

The Curia of 89 BCE is now in session.

    Magistrates

Consul Gaius Marius Aquila et Maximus Caesoninus

    Censor Quintus Valerius Vospiscus

Pro-Consul of Graecia et Asia Corelis Loquitur Solus Danius

    Pro-Consul of Iberia Vacant

Pro-Consul of Sicilia et Africa Sextus Tuccius Alexander

Pro-Consul of Gallia Maximinius Atilius Regulus

    Aedile Vacant

    Quaestor Titus Flavius Scipio (aux)

    Tribune Vacant

    Praetor Vacant

    Events
Massive fire in Rome. A torrent has raged through the city, taking with it prominent buildings. Several tenements have been destroyed, and the following temples have been destroyed:

    • The Temple of Mercury
    • The Temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus

    These Senators have lost property:

    • Gaius Marius Aquila (2 low-rises, 2 apartments)
    • Sextus Tuccius Alexander (1 low-rise)
    • Lucius Libanus (1 low-rise, 1 apartment, 1 block complex)

Plebian Roll City improvements (2 points). The people of Rome would like their city repaired, for obvious reasons.

    Plebeian Approval Rating: 3

    Pressing Matters
    • The wars in Iberia, Thrace, and Numidia continue (at least technically)
    • Jugurtha has arrived in Rome to surrender
    • Several magistracies must be filled
    • A fair portion of Rome has burned to the ground

Consul Maximus waits a second before responding.

To kick of this year i propose the funding of all repairs in Rome, And upgrading of temples to please the gods who clearly are not happy.

This year will be documented well for the sake of history so further generation can learn from it!

Sent a letter to my fellow Consul that he can continue fighting until Thrace is Roman.
Censor I am sure that when that happens you will see the land Rominized?

    Corelis Nods before speaking

I ask that the Consul respect my position, any matters regarding Thrace, are matters that most importantly concern the Proconsul of Graecia, or in other words me

Since the censor also issues census and i do not mean the counting he would also Rominize new conquered lands if we chose so..

    Lex Restituo
All damage done by the fire in Rome shall be repaired on state funds

Lex templum All temples in Rome Shall be upgraded, on state and private funds.
Private funds can be donated to the state for the building project.

Yes, many private houses, homes, shops, and other buildings were destroyed, is the Treasury to pay for every citizens loss?

I have been elected to my position today Consul, I am to leave yes, but I'd like to make sure all things are organized for my movements to the east, which seems to be untrue at this time...

    Valerius comments.

    I second the bill.
No Idea what he is going to do in Thrace

    Lex Bellum Thracia
-Consul Gaius Marius Aquila shall take command of the legions in Thrace
-After this year Gaius Marius Aquila will have imperium in Grecia et Asia as Pro-Consul until the Thracians are suppressed.
-Lex Bellum Thrax passed in 91BC is hereby revoked.

Was passed last year, and Aquila is still in command there.
