This has come round much quicker than RTW...let's hope it's good. :original:

Woo hooo, rushed more than RTW!!! I can't wait to post he bugs for this!

BTW they are probably going to still QA it, though judging from RTW that probably takes about a day.

Wooo! RTW was a brand new engine and took 4 years to develop! MTW has been in development for 2 years and is already on the 1.5/1.6 RTW engine, so it obviously won't take nearly as long and should not have as many bugs.

But still.. weeks to finish? Are we looking at a September release?

Hmmm i think he's talking about going from alpha to beta. I think when in beta most of the work is done, and it's 'just' ironing out secondary bugs. That's why he's talking about programmers having nothing left to do etc. But i think going from beta to gold still takes some time. So i won't bet on it being released early.

But i must say that i'm surprised they're already working on localisation. I thought that was something that was done at the very last?

Despite my best efforts to the contrary I find myself getting excited about MIITW's release.

I believe we are all excited, just that we are also a bit worried of the outcome, given the track record of CA relating as to "killer" bugs in RTW...

No, it's just you. Personally we can't wait to spin that disk in our drives.

It'll be good, im not expecting a revolution, just something fresh to reinvigorate the TW franchise (as every new addition to the series does, expansions just dont have the same effect).

Hopefuly there will be more possibilities for modders too, thats always fun to see.

So long as CA support the game well im not too bothered abut how soon it gets released

Yeah, I find it amazing that CA bungled so bad with RTW so I can only hope they set things straight.

And actually I'm excited about the demo, I'll know whether or not I can save $40.
A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side.

It still probably won't be out until early 2007. I would be happy with that. But hopefully they have a good campaign map. That type of thing makes or breaks the game with me, since I have to stare at it so long. And hopefully the AI is better. I got tired of fighting an endless sea of 1/4 stack armies when they could have combined and crushed me. I'm also hoping the battle maps are bigger and the AI uses that space to try more flanking moves. And please, for God's sake, I hope they make it so that the AI doesn't split their units in every direction during battle so you can isolate and kill them individually with ease.

And would it be too much to ask to get a good online arena like Battle.net?

Maybe he means "weeks" until they can start bug testing, polishing the product and getting the thing ready. It seems they are on schedule, though.

CA would rather have a unfinshed game before christmas then a finshed after, christmas is when the real money for the company is.
Also i dont think betas are as long as they use to be because they can make a game gold and start makin a patch for the game so its close to release of patch after the games been launched.
Also i think they still have quite a bit of time to go, i would say nit earlier then september ( if someone knows wat months all the previous games and expansion has came out for the TW genre, it would be a good sign of wat would most likly happen this year)

The new developer update is interesting, it shows some interesting aspects of development.
But the alpha map we have just seen from E3 makes me think again about the quality of TW products....

It is not fair on CA Australia, when people sneak out poor quality pictures of unfinished pieces of the greater puzzle onto the web.
Relax people, and reserve your judgement for when you've installed the little monkey and the whole pie is at your finger tips. Besides there's didly squat you can do about it!

I agree with Boudicca. They're probably going to start beta-ing in the next few weeks. Remember the call for beta testers?

You know, 4-weeks still mean a month, time-wise. So, that statement at top of the thread can be taken very broadly. :original: Just some pessism to keep my hopes down. :original:
