hmmm thx, historically accurate then! :p I'll have to keep an eye on them and put a stack in Bosporus for any events, 2 maybe oh btw horse archer against horse archers or other strategy!?

Chokepoint with missile heavy infrantry army Then sinply bulk ahead with massive armies that entice them to not really attack the stacks on the march.
Once you've sent 1 army to besiege a city, have the other armies roam around and pick off archers.

the tactic varies on nation, but I loathe horsearchers, besides, the Sarmatians have some of the best, so you're bound to suffer more casualties unless you isolate and and overpower.

Ambushes have been successfull tactic for me, positioning some infantry or cavalry to cut off and disrupt their formation, while the main line entices the enemy to advance and leave the ambushing forces to pick off the units they managed to break from formation.
But really, I prefer to use archers against them. keeping a solid line while trying to pick off enemy units a bit at a time... It's bloody business.

    Well Grimbold i must disagree.
From my previous encounters with the Scythians, they seem to recruit en masse scythian spearmen and those slavic levies. They do have some cavalry, but it seems that they hardly recruit them.(not as much as they should in my oppinion.).

Hwy dibbles, could you ,if possible, post your current savegame and under what settings you play the campain, i would like to give yours a try.

    Predator salutes you!

Oddly enough that seems to occur when you have a FL with enough commanding stars... and even more odd, I believe the description says that Hannibal serves the Armenian king...
I've yet to see him as Armenians even.

Because it's historically correct. He exiled himself and ended up in the court of Antiochus III

Does this mean the ancillary only spawns for the Seleucids?

These things are by far the best in Mods. These traits/retainers give a whole different sense to the game, not just conquering every province.

It feels like an RPG with characters good, bad, evil, stupid, paranoid, traitors and so much more.

And now we see Antiochos has Hannibal as an Advisor, just like in reality.

This shows respect to history and respect to players, both equally and too much important.

My username explains a bit my entusiasm

Congratulations for one more time RS team, you show everyone how things should be done

It shouldn't be only for the Seleucids .What Grimbold said is correct ,Hannibal fled to Antiochus III and if i remember correctly he was present at a battle (Magnetia or something similar) between Antiochus III and Rome. However he wasn't allowed to command the army and the romans won the battle. After than Hannibal goes to the Armenians and then to Bythinia where he suicides himself .I have played 2 campaigns with Armenia and i haven't seen the ancillary ,so it may be only for the Seleucids.

Macedonia(FYROM) is Bulgarian. If you don't believe me, read a book.

An easy way (and i really know of no other relevant way) would be to CTRL-printscreen (print scrn key) the campaign map in game and then to paste the image to an editor of your choice, like mspaint, then cutting out the mini-map

That has been known to cause issues when using Anti-aliasing though. Atleast that's what I've read.
Anyway, if you get a bare butt black screen as a screenshot, then download fraps http://www.fraps.com/
It's free and works like a charm, besides it's a magic wand for people with mid/low performance engines as it displays your FPS while playing the game (toggling on and off graphic options is so much more effective with that), besides that, it's a great way to check how many men your comp can handle at once.

So dibbles, in order to upload the avegame for me, you take the savegame file in Roma Surrectum/Play_Arverni/Saves/ and then the preferances document in Play_Arverni/Preferances.You put those two on the desktop, you archive them and then , here on TW Center, on the quick reply you go advanced and then manage attachments and you upload the the archive with those 2 files.
Thx for agreeing to share it with me.

Here is my RS 2.5 Seleucid Empire savegame(it is 107 S.E. if i remember correctly. The rest discover for yourself but i must tell you it is superb.).It is played under RTW Alexandre with Post Marian Roman Generals active. The preferances are also in so if anyone likes it please feel free to post a review.

    Cheers Predator!

    Ver 2.1 or 2.5?
    1-turn or 0-turn?
Downloaded but freezes my game, so maybe I put it in wrong folder.

This is the sort of late-game stack spam that I am addressing at the moment...largely due to excessive cumulative trade and tax bonuses on fully upgraded buildings. Results now are WAY better.

So, decided to give 1-turn a go. It's quite fun. Playing as Armenia h/h.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I encountered massive action quite quickly in this campaign.
About 4 turns in, the Seleucids grapped one of the nearby settlements with my Culture.
About 4 turns later, the same settlement rebelled in my favour... bringing the alliance between me and the Seleucids to an untimely end.
Needless to say, I was rather panicked by this sudden enemy. I was still scraping together my first stack.
At any rate, seeing as I was now put in serious trouble, so I immediately jolted forth, to try and take a bit of land from them, and thus either trade it in to them for peace, or atleast have the frontlines away from my heartlands.

I came first upon Pinaca, it had no walls and little garrison. And with the bow and arrow, the city was taken.
Next I sent my spy south to Arbela... And it had no garrison.
So I left Pinaca with the minimal of Garrison and rushed down to take Arbela. Next was Opis.

From there, I went to Babylon and Seleucia, and oddly enough I was still meeting only the tiniest of resistence.

At this point in time, I had managed to scramble together two more armies, one which was sent down to stabilize the newly gained territory in the middle-east, while the other was sent to repel what small armies came from Antiochea and the coast.

Strangely enough, aside from scripted armies, I met only a very small amount of resistance, rarely did they collect their troops in armies larger than a handfull of units, which meant that the majority of them was shot down by my archers, before even reaching my lines.
They seemed to prefer to instead of amassing into armies, to have several groups of units spread across the campaign map, fun stuff for archery.
At this point in time, the tiny armenian kingdom, has grown into the largest empire in the world... the Seleucids are left with only with Bostra
