    Default Laptop purchase

    Hello ,
    my dad got me a dell laptop i don't exactly know what model it is but here is the specs :

    GT 525m
    Core i5 processor (dont know what model)
    6 gb ram

    Around 700 dollars

    what total war games i will be able to play on Huge unit scale and high settings ??
    especially Rome total war and Medieval 2

    I thought Steam had demos for those two to try out first.

    well you see i don't have the laptop yet its because my dad is abroad it will arrive in summer

    It will play both but how well depends on other factors.

    Wait till you get it home and try out the demos.

    those would be either the inspiron, or xps. it will run on medium at 1366*768, with some mixed settings towards high.

    If it is the xps 15, the thin one, not that barge ugly xps 15 that can come with a great 1080p display, I would advise your father to return and get another one. It has terrible build quality.

    awe that's really disappointing i hoped i could play them on max graphics and enjoy huge smooth battles .....unfortunately am sure my dad is too lazy to go exchange it for another one

    but how come i saw some people playing shogun 2 on max settings with similar specs and seems to play fine ??

    For laptops Mr.MM is more correct then me. I'd say someone is pulling your leg.

    You'll get a little more performance but the laptop will get hotter faster.

    Be careful overclocking just for unstability reasons.

    the vid is running at some low fps, thus what I said still stands.

    basically that gpu aint much for gaming at all, and will only be capable at low res.

    i dont mind playing on 1280x800
