Napoleon Total War has stopped working

Yes, this message once again.

Well, I have played 140 hours of Napoleon Total War already on the same laptop and I have had no problems. Now all of a sudden I am getting this error and it happens whenever I try to load a battle or just when I start the game. I have already re-installed it and it hasn't improved. I also have Empire and Shogun 2 and they work perfectly.
I did make an adjustment to the script to improve the graphics but as far as I can remember this problem was already occuring before I did that.

My computer is a pile of **** but it does manage the run the games on pretty good graphics and no lag etc etc.

Any fix? Thanks
