To: All current Julii Legates
Regarding: Status of the Roman Army.
Romans, as you know, this past winter saw perhaps the most vicious fighting in our war with Macedon, fully 3,000 Romans died, and one of the new Legions was nearly destroyed, however, thanks to the skill, bravery, and fortitude of Titus Asconius, and Decius Drusus, the Macedonian invasion force of over 15,000 has been crushed.
At the end of this battle, you all knew what would happen, this is the official decree.
As of this summer, In the 530th Year of the existance of Rome, the following Legions are to be disbanded:
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th Legions, are to return to their city of creation, recieve the Roman symbol of Valor, and then travel to Rome where they will recieve their pensions, and be allowed to live out their lives in peace.
Of these Legions, the 1st and 2nd, whom all of you know well their exploits, are to recieve 5 Acres of Land per soldier as payment for their service to Rome for nearly 35 Years, in addition each surviving soldier will be given a Seal of Service, to be presented to any merchant within the Empire, the House of Julii will pay all debts, bills, and services of these brave and noble men for the rest of their lives, their families to become like my own.
The Legates of these Legions will be asked to serve further terms within the newly established Republican Legions.
Three of the Legions have already seen battle, two on the Gaulic front, and one was nearly destroyed in the battle of Patavium.
In total, 6 Newly formed Legions will take over the defense of Roman territory, and prepare the invasion of the Isle of greece, now held by the Macedonian Empire.
On a side note, if ya'll remember that one picture of the 10,000 or so Macedonians in/around my army near Patavium... well I finally got 'round to fighting that fight, they were joined by two more armies totalling the full Macedonian force at over 15,000.
I made the first attack with a Republican Legion, smashed one Macedonian army, but wasn't able to turn soon enough to hold up the charge of a second, lost alot of good men but pushed that army back, two Legions came to my aid but two more Macedonian armies closed on the stricken Republican Legion before I could pull back.
500 Romans made it out of that Legion... ouch.
North of the mob of Macedonians, however, they attacked 1st Legion, who promptly crushed their force and then advanced with 5th in support and smashed two more Macedonian armies before the lot of them ran the hell away... bloody cowards...
But that first battle... yeash... bodies EVERYWHERE... 3 Legions on my side, 4 Macedonian Armies on theirs... I think that was by far the biggest battle I've fought yet.
Okay this is so bloody cool:
I have finally gotten to Ambush someone!!!!!
