Personally, believe it or not, I think the Lannisters have lost the most. Just about every commander showing any genius has been killed, is MIA, exiled or has joined the faith. Joffrey is dead, and in place is Tommen, a weak child who has Tyrellls whispering in his ears. Cersei is insane by now, if she wasn't already so a long time ago. All that's left are cousins and freys.

Baratheon. They only have Stannis left, and he isn't likely to live too much longer. Maybe one of Robert's bastards can take the name, but when Stannis dies, their power is gone.

House Tully is a house in exile, Starks are fairly bad but they have good support in the North. Lannister is in perilous waters with Cersei leading them and the Baratheons only have Stannis who has no heirs while the Stormlands are getting invaded. House Arryn is also very weak, Robert is the only one left except for some distant relative who doesn't even have the Arryn surname.

The wars have bled the nobility of westeros badly, every house except the Martells and Tyrells are in grave danger. But House Tully have suffered the most.

houses have got themselves extint up to book five , like for example house Caron , house Darry , but we have to recognise that the stark have lost the most . they lost the castle and all the retinue and the castel was also burned and the prisoners like simple folk killed , Edard the lord of the house died , his first born with Katelyn die aka ROB , oh hes wife also died and is un undead sansa was a prisoner for the period of the war and now is used by litleFinger , arya is lost acros the narrow sea in Bravos , bran is beyond the wall underground , amd so on and so forth

I think this is a pretty true assessment, however one might say that Jamie has rather gained some edge. Before, he was more or less a bitter deadly swordsman, now he has the makings of a rather good politician and commander. Before, his arrogance and temper got in his way of his better judgement. Now, he can think much more clearly. Even though he cannot lead the Lannisters, he certainly can guide them.

Does Targaryen count because they lost the seven kingdoms and most of the family before the start of the books and have an infertile queen stuck in meeren but then again Aegon is looking quite promising with golden company. Arryn is the closest to dropping from existance though with Robert being very ill and Littlefingers scheming. But landwise the Targaryens, Starks and Tullys have lost the most.

Starks are broken into small pieces, the Tully are equivalent.
Lannisters still have Jaime, Tyrion, Cersei, they are not together but they are still a family
Arryn are all messed, and they aren't at war...

I would have to go with the Lannisters, they had the entire 7 kingdoms in their back pocket and now with Jaime going missing, Cersei being shamed, Tyrion in exile, Tywin and kevan dead, Marbrand hunting Brynden and Gregore now dead (sort of) they have lost everything.

The Targaryens aren't doing that bad. Sure, Daenarys is infertile, but Aegon is still at the head of an army conquering Westeros. There might also be other missing dragons (Targaryens, not actual Dragons) that we don't know about.

Why do people keep mentioning the Targaryens? Technically they have only gained since the beginning of A Game of Thrones.

If we are basing it on that then they are out of the running and if not then well we can only go with the Valyrians who lost 100 times more than any single house.

since the start of the books arryn have lost 2 charecters, 1 of which is kinda a tully and the other died literally as the book started.

i think that the lannisters have lost the most really, pritty much all of there inspirational leaders with 2 hands are dead or trying to kill other members of the lannisters

Even if A baratheon sits on the Iron Throne still nto enough lets say something goes bad in Stannis' Campaigns and lets say he gets killed There end of Baratheon end of there power and a major step back from any chance of redemption but who knows Baratheons be really good with small chances and whatnot maybe gendry can pull a stannis.
