"Får jag kalla dig Bajen? Det är lättare att komma ihåg..."
Is this disputed enough for ya'all?
Seriously im redrawing the whole map since I did not like the mountains in the previous one, any suggestions would be welcome at this stage! And if anybody speaks high valyrian it would be a huge +![]()
"Får jag kalla dig Bajen? Det är lättare att komma ihåg..."
i doubt anyone speaks it, and theres no dictionary. if you need stuff translated, drop a mail to the guy who does valyrian for GOT, he answers pretty quickly.
Yeah.. I really had to go wild with my imagination here
Anyways I think something simular should be done around Pentos and then most blanks should be filled. 2-4 settlemens should be more then enough for the city states. So far Tyrosh have 3, Myr 3, Lys 2, Pentos 2, Qohor 2 and Volantis more then they should, probably some should be rebels.
Anyways I could really need some thoughts on recruitment. Militia (crossbow and spear) seems reasonable for citys. Maybe the wooden castles can produce some semi-professionals soldiers. The rest should be mercenaries and special units I guess?
"Får jag kalla dig Bajen? Det är lättare att komma ihåg..."
it would basically be all mercs and citizen troops for the free cities (maybe i can draw up at least a roster for one faction as an example). if we add castles at all, they should be more like manses and forts, since there are no castles as such in essos.
Help needed!
I need help to finnish the building-system that I have been working on for the last few days, basicly what needs to be done is:
1. Adding descriptions for buildings. Seing as english is not my first language I need somebody to help me with this.
2. Decide what units should be recruitable for what faction and when and were.
3. Come up with ideas for new specific "Essos-Buildings" (for example, House of the Undying, Ironbank of Braavos etc.) and what their effects should be (ex. Public order, Health bonus etc)
If you know how to edit text files in the modfolder it is a huge + but it is definetly not needed, especially if we are simply talking building descriptions, unit descriptions and such, you simply need to be able to write english better then me.. (not that hard)
The building system that I have in mind is to divide the factions into "Cultures" and have the Cultures share pretty much share the same buildings and the generic units (vanilla ones). For example, southern_european will be used for all the free citites in the west of Essos, Volantis, Braavos etc. northern_european will represent the former kingdoms of nothern Essos, Sarnor, Ibben etc. These factions will not be in game for the first release but I can see myself working on them later, anyways they are most likely valyrian kingdoms and will pretty much be the same as western Essos. Eastern_european will represent the dothraki, they will not be able to acces infantry in the same amount as other factions and not be able to build most buildings, (ports, banks etc) why? because dothrakis are pretty much in their own little world, for the first release we have one dothraki khalasar in mind, but we could just as easily add another rival one (since we are using cultures for 90% of the Construction and recruitment). mesoamerican will represent the culture of the ghiscari, as the rest of Essos they are citystates that are united by bonds of blood, however they are different in the aspect of Soldiers due to use of slaves instead of free men. the last culture that we should work on is greek which is Qarth and Eastern Essos. In the same way as the dothraki the ghiscari could easily be two factions (new ghis and slavers bay), which is the whole point of the Culture based recruitment-system!
Back to the begining, the EDU text file have been cleaned up and is ready to be finnished, I just need some help and inputs from the community!
If you want to help with decriptions I have a test in mind for one of the buildings. The racetrack and sultans racetrack (vanilla-islam) that improves public order will be used for the dothrakis and will still be in two levels, something that for present is being called "Dothraki Raceground (lvl1) and Khal's Raceground (lvl2 for Vaes Dothrak only). What I need from you is two descriptions (one short and one long): for example you could write.. "the dothraki culture resolves around the use of horces... at these racetracks the dothraki aranges Contests were bloodriders may show of their skill with the arakh and bla bla bla" you see were I am getting?
If the dothraki does not suit you, I would also accept any draft about an essos specific building or unit, if I like what I see the job is yours(if you want it that is) And also any suggestions on how to imrove these cultures are more then welcome!!

"Får jag kalla dig Bajen? Det är lättare att komma ihåg..."
I mentioned I redid basicly the whole map earlier and now I wan't to finalize it so I can put all my effort into the remaining code! So speak now or forever suffer in silence!![]()
"Får jag kalla dig Bajen? Det är lättare att komma ihåg..."
I loved the map, can't wait to play it![]()
I think the new map looks awesome. Great Work.
Cheers mates! Now there is just plenty of boring codes to write
And Hermod let me know if you want to get back and work on the UI![]()

I like it, where is Asshai on this map? or is it offmap
In what time period is this set? Like which westeros factions are in it, is there a bit or Targaryen lying about?
Asshai is to the east of Qarth and is a part of a world which few characters in the series have visited (Euron & Melisandre?). I can see myself creating the area east and south of Essos just for fun in the future but it wont be a fun campaign..At the moment the period is set as the same as Westeros TW (At the begining of A Clash of Kings) but that can easily be changed!

really like it, some thoughts (dunno what custom texture you use). valyria looks a bit bland, perhaps a bit more modorish? also, the green dot around Oros looks kinda out of place.the northern parts and steppes could look a bit different, right now the map Has a lot of identical grasland. especially the heavily cultivated areas could do with some custom textures (its called the golden fields after all). swamps around the rhoyne is a must i think.
some woods, esp around the norvos/braavos area would look nice, in general the lack of woods makes the map seem a bit featureless at times (the isle of cedars could do with trees). i think i read about wooded mountains south of braavos, and theyd have to get their wood from somewhere. just mountains sitting in empty grasslands fits the dothraki see, but not the mentioned place imo.
also, some places like new ghis seem empty in general, perhaps some hills, (wooded) rocks on islands, esp braavos and lorath, texture variations, smother texture changes (valyria directly bordered by green fields looks unlikely). i know im spoiled by tohos map
, but perhaps it gives you some further hints.

Very specific! Thanks for the ideas! Also I was aproached by cisfe who is working on an essos map of his own, he have created something more modorish (great word) that I will try and see how it feels![]()

Hey Korpskog I changed the water in my map giving the smoking sea a little bit smoky appearance, I could do it to our too if you wanted here was the end result. I left a little blue in the pic to show the difference. Anyway Korpskog lemme know if you want me to make you a smoky sea.

I think this would be fantastic! Would love to see it set with the Valyrians such as Targaryens in Valaryia though, or maybe even include Dragonstone off the coast?
You should write a line of traits and ancillaries based on the time spent in Valyria. Like if you put a general on the island there's a 90% chance he'll die or grow mad, but there's also a 5% chance he finds a Valyrian blade.
I thought about that! I also made it so that disasters are common there but I have not tried if it works yet...Also all pathways through Valyria are not sailable so it might be dangerous to sail there
