Which Major House do you dislike the most? Why? [likely spoilers]

A comment in a different thread got me thinking...we always discuss our favorite houses, or who we want to play when the mod is released...

...but who do we all dislike the most, and why? (based on any source you consider - book, show, games)

For me, it's House Tyrell. They never seem to make their own decisions, merely joining with whoever is winning at the time. [I'll try to use spoiler tags just in case a few members here haven't being reading the books in their entirety]

Even during Robert's Rebellion - they stayed loyal to House Targaryen, and did lay siege to Storm's End, but never really did anything. Then the moment Ed Stark arrives, Mace bends the knee. The same could be said about the Lannister's, but they never actively tried to support the Targaryen's, the Tyrell's did.

During the War of the Five Kings - Renly was the "man" early on, so the Tyrell's signed on with him. Then he died and the Lannister's were perceived as more powerful, so the Tyrell's joined them.

They don't really have any reason for doing anything, it's not specific loyalty (like how the Stark and Tully families maintain a strong friendship), nor is it a perceived quest for power. In fact, with the fall of Renly and Rob, the defeat of Stannis in the south, the constant losses the Lannister's had suffered (prior to Blackwater), the Tully's overwhelmed, the Arryn's and Martell's being relative non-combatants...

...the Tyrell's are the most readily available combat force. They could TAKE King's Landing, and with the population being what it is - the population would probably love to see the Lannister's gone. So why don't they?

It's not because of specific loyalty for the Lannister's; if it was they never would have joined Renly in the beginning.

That's my problem - they don't have any direction, whatsoever. Of course this is the internet, and just my opinion.

House Frey is not one of the major Houses but I hate them more than anything in this series, really.

I only included House Frey because of the significance to the story (and for overall mod purposes), but you're right...a relatively minor House with geographic importance.

Thank god you included Frey in here. If not for that I'd probably go with Arryn or Joffrey, but those Freys are such scumbags I couldn't stop myself.

Traitors deserve death, no mercy for House Frey! They are spineless scum who don't uphold oaths; their banner should be that of a vulture instead of the twins since they only come out to fight when most of fighting has already been done. Second is Joff's House well because we all know how lovable Joff is. Also, GRRM has screwed the Starks enough, they don't need to be screwed in the polls. But, I do see how their honor could get on people's nerves, mostly because they willingly put themselves into stupid positions (cough cough Robb thinking that it was the "right" thing to marry Jeyne Westerling.)

I hate Catelyn (for her treatment of Jon rather than being pissed off at Ned) and Sansa )for generally being a stupid ****). I also have a bit of a problem with psychopath Rickon.

I love Jon and Arya, and like Ned and Robb until they made huge ups.

House Frey, mostly because of the RW, but the way they act after that event is probably even more frustrating.

house Arryn for their complete lack of doing anything through 5 books when they have ties to the tullys/starks. They sit in the vale just chilling. The war could have been over by now if they had come to the aid of the Starks and Tullys...

I agree Starks are blinded by there own self obssesion with honour, which Jaime and The Hound proves is a Gray area anyhow. So much so that they are unwilling to looks facts in the face or even be ruthless just to survive even though everyone is willing to be ruthless to them. But i do like Arya but i don't particulary consider her a regular Stark.

Actually to be honest, I selected Arryn first. Damn Lysa, damn her. (Yes, technically she's a Tully, but I don't mind the Tully's and SweetRobin is a nightmare!) But then there came the Freys....

I don't know, i mean i dislike many of the Lannisters but at the same time they are definitely entertaining. It's the same with most of the houses, I keep thinking "i don't like that house" but then i remember why i like them, the Tullys for instance i thought they're boring then i remembered the Blackfish. I think i like some parts of each house for different reasons, I like Cersei because she's a basketcase.
