Alright here's the problem I seem to be having, only when im defending in a siege does my General do a pre-battle speech, any other time when I get to deploy, attacking or defending (but not defending against sally outs as they don't give you time to deploy) I'm not able to hear any battle speech by my FM's, the camera pans in on my General as he begins waving his sword about and looking side to side and then pans over my entire army without anything, no cheering or speech.

So has anyone else had this issue? Even FM's with traits such as Good Speaker and so on sometimes decide to be mute, I usually let the camera pan around for about a minute to see if it's gonna start but usually doesn't.

Ugh wish I could edit already, what I forgot to ask - Is this normal? Do other people experience this ALOT as in, 1 out of 10 battles i'll have a general that gives a speech, or is this just something that seems to be happening to me?

I cannot say I have ever had this problem. My general's always are able to give a speech before deployment. I cannot say I actually listen to them though. This would have to be a technical issue on your end.

Works fine here. Though, I sometimes wonder if it really is a good idea to leave in charge of my army generals that always do the same talks every two fights or so. Or maybe is it an incentive for my soldiers to finish a war asap before to die from boredom? Clever generals!

Alright cheers guys & Ishan for editing my post ^^ - Was just making sure this wasn't normal game behaviour, I'll go look for information/a solution!

Speeches are based on traits, for captains there are some default ones. You should be able to hear them before deployment, whether it's siege or open field is irrelevant. Make sure your game is patched properly, other than that i don't think there's another technical way to fix this issue on your machine, i have never seen anyone with this sort of problem.

Maybe you could do a reinstall? I'm stumped tbh, never heard of this either.

No problem with general speeches for me. I sometimes listen to them, when rolling a smoke, from time to time they will entertain me and make me giggle! I like the one about "donkeys s having more guts than the enemy!" and the one where he says "you looking at my bird?!"

Alright im fairly sure it's due to my computer just being a bit... old. So I did a complete un-install, then re-installed it. Tried 10 field battles and 3 siege battles, once attacking and twice defending. 11 out of 13 battles, receieved a speech (Though I forgot and skipped two of them)

Installed patches, same, still worked fine. Installed some mods then it went a bit... weird. Less speeches, music getting a bit choppy, game itself lagging a bit more. So I think it's just due to my computer just being a bit old and well... crappy. Anyways thanks for your responses guys!

Do you have subtitles on? That might help determine what exactly is wrong.

On a funny note, I had to read this thread to find out there are speeches in M2TW like those in RTW, just because of the long delay before the speech starts.

Speaking of Speeches, don't expect much from a Muslim commander or an Eastern European/Nordic commander.

Glad you found out Sar1n, the speeches are really enjoyable to listen to, when they work... And yes, I have subtitles on, although even if a general gives a speech, doesn't subtitle it, but will for other battle announcements and so on.
