This isn't actually a private though as it is only the cheeks so I don't know if there were any actual sexual intentions. The more I think about it the less weird it seems, given what they are saying they're testing it does seem an appropriate part of the body to do so.

Robots are going to be property, so I don't see why people shouldn't be allowed to pretend that they're married. Legally sharing property with property might not work out though.

All joking aside, Japan is in a crisis precisely due to this overall mentality. I have a few friends that left to teach English and stayed, and they have told me of serious issues with the whole 'cute' thing being adopted by young men that are now so highly 'feminized' that they are not even interested in sex anymore. Or when they are, they just watch anime porn, or whatever, because despite the whole cute culture thing where it is almost an obligation to appear cute, Japanese girls will never out-cute anime characters.

So Japanese women are in really bad shape emotionally and mentally in a society that always valued a proper marriage and family. It is somewhat common that unmarried Japanese women in their late 20's are referred to as failures by their families, even when successful in business. Now they have companionship clubs where they can pay male escorts to pay attention to them and pour them drinks.

The young men have 'maid clubs' where young Japanese girls dress like French maids and call them master, and they buy large pillows with their favorite maids likeness - and now women have clubs where they can go and pay a guy to seem interested in their post work conversation.

So if life wasn't competitive or weird enough in Japan - it just keeps getting weirder. Fortunately, if my marriage doesn't work I know where I will be going. I'm all about Japanese women. Actual, Japanese women.

I must say though that I find the whole trend of robotics replacing real human interaction and emotion somewhat worrisome. If we continue to replace or complete our lives this way, the entirely logical follow-up question will be "but where will it all lead?". If humans turn to perfect "simulations" of emotion rather than their less perfect but natural counterparts, will we see robot adoptions, lives spent in dream capsules and even digital or robotical replacements for the things that make us humans? It might seem far-fetched, but I would say this is a concern, especially taking what BarnabyJones said into account.

Just a bit of cautious doom bell ringing to shake things up a bit.
