Default Wherefore art thou Independent Dynasties?

Apologies if there is an answer out there but I've tried searching and not found what I need.

Firstly, not been here since 2009 but recently dusted off RTW after reading one of Ben Kane's books and wanting to fight the Battle of Carrhae. No Parthians in RTR VII but love it all the same.

In my game as Sparta I tried to make alliances with everyone I could find and this included the Independent Dynasties. This alliance still remains but I haven't seen the ID for ages and can't work out where they are even with FOW lifted. Does anyone have any ideas where I might look? I want to cancel the alliance as this should then allow me to ally with the Getae Tribes.

I know where the Independent City States are but as far as I can tell the ID are different.

    Cheers

You should look for the dark purple colour on the map. They're a super-faction, actually similar in form to the rebels. The idea behind it is to be able to represent the smaller political powers, which have been divided into City States (the autonomos poleis), Dynasties (autonomos dynastai), Barbarian Confederations (barbaroi) and all other independent settlements/regions (rebel faction).

Some more information about them can be found in the FOE manual, which is included in the ''extra's'' folder of the RTRVII installation. This document still needs to be adapted and expanded to include the new elements of VII, though, which we hope to do when the development has finished.

Brill thanks. Today dark purple appeared in Western Africa (Mauritania?) but then I lifted FOW and it was white again. Then after searching for a while with Diplomats, I got a message to say the ID were at war with the Attalid Dynasty and I had a Diplomat right next door to the city in question so all sorted.

Didn't know there was a guide in the Extra folder either so thanks for that.

Yeah Mauretania us there as an independent dynasty at the start, but it seems Carthago conquered them in your campaign, like they often do

    @ Maurits Thanks, I replied

To add to Maurits' answer, I think there are independent dynasties in Bithynia, Mauretania, Andalusia and near the Pyrenees at the start

@ Maurits I hope you haven't forgotten my PM, I know you are busy but it's been over a week

They are always in a little box at the north-east corner, but that won't help you, since there is a box of trees around the settlement (the sole purpose of it is to keep the faction alive). Apart from that, they have a tendency of snuffing it across the board after a few years, but the Mauretanian province often revolts to them. Putting your diplomats there is probably your best bet.

Sorry about posting my question in this thread, but I thought there was no need to create a new post.
I just download Rome Total Realism with all the patch and hotfix. I was wondering whether there are sub-mods that let me play as the Eastern factions (Parthia, Ptolemy Egypt and Pontus). Thank you.
