Wired has uncovered course material on the Pentagon's website, now confirmed as authentic, about an "objectionable" course taught to future leaders that there was no such thing as moderate Islam, that they should consider the entire religion their enemy, advocating nuclear attacks on Medina and Mecca and targeting the "civilian population wherever necessary". The course taught that Islam "could no longer be tolerated".

One of the officers on the course complained, and now the US Army is scrambling to contain the damage, which of course is going to be immense. This is the dream of every Muslim fantatic and conspiracy theorist come true.

There are over 3,500 Muslims in active service in the USA, with the number of Muslims otherwise serving estimated as high as 20,000.

Similar material has been presented to FBI officers and other law enforcement officials (see relevent threads), this problem is endemic in the US, I am afraid. Federal money is freely given to Islamophobic cranks for reasons we cannot fathom.

Oh trust me, Im thoroughly tired of the way our military and civilian leadership jumps at the opportunity to apologize, instead of explain.

Muslims deface the Koran and we attempt to dispose of those copies (as opposed to keeping them forever, I guess) and there we are apologizing and then having our people killed in retaliation, all over a ing book.

Same with the SS debacle. Something that goes back to Vietnam. Something that adorns the doors to living quarters, challenge coins, etc, etc. There was a problem with it in the 80's, the 90's, and then 2012. Nothing new.

What is new, is that back then (minus the mental masturbatory nature of the media, of course) is that we explained the situation away. Now, we appologize and forefit any explanation, and subsequent debate.

Again, this is not an issue. This is a place that men in their mid to late 20's or older, go to learn, debate ideas, etc. This was an optional course.

3000 people where killed in 9/11 by Islamist terrorists and 100 000+ US soldiers fought in 10 years of war with almost daily Islamist terrorist attacks on them, such that the only thing surprising would be that no soldiers would develop such ideas about Islam out of resentment.

Well, use your own deduction on this issue. Your thread title is sensationalist and misrepresents the actual story. There is no Pentagon policy of total war against Islam. The Pentagon hasn't practiced nor advocated total war policy in 70 years.

I'd figure you'd just write this off as typical nonsense from ignorant hicks. There will always be people who clamor for lots of violence, especially in the military. But coursework and studies which advocate the non-existence of moderate Islam and possible extreme methods of eradicating Islam's influence is not the same as Pentagon policy of total war against Islam. Conspiracy theorists in the middle east which think the west is constantly out to get them will use whatever ammo they can to self-confirm their own belief system regardless - whether its authentic or not. Consequently, I am unconcerned. Radical militant Islamism is a fact of life we have to be used to for a while now until its popularity subsides as the flow of information spreads amongst the Middle East.
