So Romney bullied a kid in high school. His apology was pathetic, to say the least, he could have been more honest and a little bit more contrite about being a bully.
I know people do stupid stuff in high school, but bullies at that age can often stay bullies for a lifetime. While it might not say much about his character now, it certainly says a lot with the way he responded now. Especially given the many instances of bullying of gay kids who are coming out in increasing numbers, he could've really said something a bit stronger against bullying, regardless of his thoughts on homosexuality.
Also, it's one thing to do "stupid stuff" in high school, like do drugs or drink alcohol in excess or take stupid risks in general, but it's another to do mean spirited things to hurt others for your own enjoyment. I think one is pretty usual, the other is despicable and much more harmful.
If Romney had done any sort of actual apology that showed he understood the impact of his actions, I wouldn't care, but it shows he has no idea still, that he is clueless.
