Cursor text not showing up

Hey there guys, first time posting here. I was hoping you could help me out, I have just installed Medieval II today and patched it to 1.2. The game runs fine, but whenever I am on the Battle Map, if I put the cursor, say, over a character's retinue or trait, it doesn't show the pop up description. The same happens when I put it over a unit.

Turns out my Medieval doesn't have a "text" folder on data, so I figured this might be the problem. Anyway, if you guys could help me, I'd really appreciate BTW I'm using Windows 7, this didn't happen when I used XP, and it's Vanilla version

Check the %appdata% folder after unhiding allfiles and folders in Folder Options.
