In a surprising move considering the upcoming election, Obama has finally confirmed in an interview that he is done playing the "my viewpoint is evolving" game and outright supported gay marriage. He stressed, of course, that this was just a personal opinion and that he still believes it should be up to the states. Then he rambled on a bit about his belief changing because
his daughters have gay parents and there are gay people in the military.
Anyway, I found it surprising that he'd make such a comment before the election. Some seemed to think he was hesitant to do so because it may hurt him in the black vote but I see that as unlikely. Very likely he decided that the support among the liberals was being hurt by his refusal to outright support gay marriage more than his support among any other demographic was by doing so.
