Default Modders please respond! (how to activate sprites in battle?)

I use the XGM mod (but this forum is more active). Battle performance is horrible.
I realized the problem is that units don't use sprites but only 3D models.
I read a walkthrough a long time ago how to maximize the graphics. It does the same.

So how can I use sprites again?

Canīt you just set the unit quality down? That should do the trick.

did that, to "high". In the preferences.txt it says it's "super-high" though.
It runs smooth, but I'm pretty sure the units have less polygons...

    ???

see, there are two possible reasons for having no sprites:
    1. The mod doesnīt include sprites (I highly doubt that in this case)
    2. Your graphics options are too high. The highest option will remove the use of sprites completely.

So, of course setting graphic options lower will reduce the unit quality, but that is the point of it, isnīt it?

Ok, so highest doesn't use sprites?
I have a quad core 4 gig ram and a 4870 graphics card.
But I'm pretty sure I used "highest unit detail" on my old system
(1,5 Ghz, 1 Gig Ram, 256 mb graphics card) and it ran smoothly,
    just had to deactivate shadows.
    oh well...

AFAIK, XGM uses mostly Vanilla graphics....which means it should pretty much scream on even a low end PC.
Anyway, set Unit Detail to Medium and it should activate the sprites nicely.

And closed. If you want this discussion, you will probably find it better to ask in the RTW workshop thread: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=22
