Default Seeking advice on upgrading my PC

It's pretty good, but I want it even better for super-hardcore graphical and speed awesomeness.

Here is my current system: (sorry for messy presentation I copy/pasted it from the old e-invoice)

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Antec TruePower TP-750 Blue 750W ATX Power Supply - 120mm Fan - Dual PCI-E Graphics Card Connector - NVIDIA™ SLI™ Ready Certified - 80PLUS® Bronze Certified - Cable Management (TP-750-BLUE)

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-Bit, DVD, Single Pack, OEM (GFC-00599)

    Gigabyte Radeon HD 6950 Video Card - GDDR5 2048MB 256bit VRAM - 800 / 12500MHz (5.0Gbps) Clocks - PCIe 2.1 - 2 x DVI, 1 x HDMI, 2 x Mini Display Port - CrossFireX Ready - DirectX 11 & OpenGL 4.1 (GV-R695D5-2GD-B)

What should I upgrade as I am NOOBISH when it comes to hardware....?

Surely the RAM? Or should I just get it Crossfired? What I would like to see is a very noticeable difference in frame rates from demanding applications like FSX with REX2.0 and OrbX Terrains on best graphical settings, for example.

I'd be willing to spend a decent amount if it was really worth it.

[EDIT: Thanks again to Mr.Crusty for recommending me this current system 14 months ago! It has served me wonderfully!]

Your system is still pretty nice mate, however you might want to look into a better processor, which also means you'll need a new motherboard. This would probably mean getting a z77 chipset motherboard with an intel ivy bridge processor, or perhaps an older sandy bridge i5-2500k.

Also, upgrading the ram would accomplish nothing, 4gb is enough, however you could upgrade to 8gb if you wish, it's quite cheap.

Upgrading RAM would be good idea as memory sticks are not so expensive these days, e.g. 2x4GB or 2x8GB if your board can handle them.

GPU would be another possibility. Crossfire is not worth cause you're going to build a new rig sooner or later.

This leaves me a tad confused - would upgrading the RAM help or not? I'm sure my PC could take a 2x8....

Windows likes to swap processes into the RAM to relieve other storage sections.

Having lots of ram really isn't worth it unless you do heavy photoshopping or edit videos. For gaming 4gb is fine, but upgrading to more for the future isn't that expensive.

As for performance, upgrading your cpu (and thus also your motherboard) is the best option to go for.
