    Default Units to avoid?

I bought this game almost a year ago but never really played it. Now I'm trying to get a campaign going by first familiarizing myself with the combat dynamics in skirmishes.

In ME2 and Empire (at least) there were a number of units that were simply not viable to use (typically anything with a two handed melee weapon or gun). But Napoleon doesn't have any of the "usual suspects" as the case may be. That said, are there any units known to have bugs or features that make them less than ideal in combat?

    Thanks,

    M.

Obviously, militia are considerably weaker than grenadiers... But they are useful to keep order on the campaign map.

I don't know if it's related but If you change the game files to allow 80 unit stacks and have a 10,000 plus unit battle, then grouping your cavalry is not such a great idea :/

Grenadiers in vanilla are terrible value for money.

Especially since CA seems to have a bizarre conception of what their purpose was.

grenadiers useless in vanilla, are you guys smoking something? put them on a wall in sieges and throw grenades as fast as possible, then if any make it to the top the melee stats will destroy the enemy quick!

I rather like Russia. But then, that's mostly because their green coats are so sexy. Their unit options are a bit thin in Vanilla.

The only unit I can think of that is best avoided are experimental howitzers. Compared to 'normal' howitzers (i.e. the ones firing explosive shells), they cost almost the same but aren't anywhere near as effective.
