Any battles recently that could have gone either way?
I just had one, besieged in a fort in istanbul. I took the city not long before and 9/10 of my army were dealing with the rebels,my other armies were waiting on the pyrenese (Im UK,got called into ottoman war by Russians,I own spain) for this army to finish up and assist in the upcoming invasion of France. All I have left in Istanbul is my artillery (two nine pounders) and a company of light infantry and marines both at half strength. I was attacked by a rebel force of 5 jamissaries and two cavalry. I placed my cavalry in the fort courtyard undeployed so they could move when needed. I foolishly put my infantry on the wrong wall and so didnt kill many Turks before the walls were lost.
I'd already moved my infantry back down though so I deployed my artillery and turned off fire at will,my infantry lined up between them. As soon as the Jamissaries closed in I told everyone to fire and sent 2 groups scampering. But a third had snuck round the side and almost got to my artillery before I acted,I had to send my marines to hold them off whilst my 9 surviving artillery men ran to safety. Lost half my marines, now down to 40 before making them fall back,my other artillery battery fired and sent the Turks scampering.
The rest of the Turks ran in through the front gate and got annihilated pretty soon. But then some previously routed one returned and engaged my light infantry, they ran low on men,I had my marines flank on the right and charge them in side, made my 30 light infantry fall back and had my artillery fire right into them and thus routed them. Secured the gates and won the battle.
Turned out harder to describe than I meant.
