Can't google/search certain phrases, or enter certain websites

I jokingly said in the beginning that this might have been because of the recent advances in internet censorship, but now I'm starting to eat my own words. This has been going on for quite a while but the only things which seems to be censored are commercial stuff. I don't want to believe in some conspiracy but at the same time I've had a lot of trouble googling certain documentaries and programs when trying to find them on the internet. Like now for example I can't find the program Avast Free, beacuse as soon as my google search has the phrase "Avast" in it, Mozilla Firefox responds by saying I have a connection problem, and Internet Explorer sais something else. I'm getting real tired of this and was just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem?

For some reason it still works on my iPhone. So I'm going to try to copy the www adress from my phone to the computer.

Nope, it's as if the entire Avast.com website and all of its pages is off limits to me on this computer - but I can get to it on the iPhone. I can also get on many other websites, just not Avast and a lot more.

Guys, listen up to this, I can't even YOUTUBE search the word "Avast". What the

Okay, what the

? I can't search the word "British". Which of course means I can't enter Britishairways.com.

Yes, I'm kind of pissed at the fact that 5% of the internet seems to be offline for me and it's really bothering. I just hope somenoe else recognizes this and can tell me what's going on.

You live in Arizona so I dont think they would censor British and avast there? Odd.

Odds are you have a virus on your system that is blocking certain sites. Do you have access to Malwarebytes? Run that and post the output log here. Good luck!

It's possible that someone has blocked it on your router. Like a family member or something.

Don't think it's a router problem since there are many thousands of sites on the internet and sections of the internet which I can not find access to on my computer, and my iPhone still manages to find access to them although it is using the same router.

Interesting... when I press on your link it seemed to work, I was in on the Google website with all the search alternatives for Avast showing, except the fact that I couldn't enter any of them of course. When I then clicked back to make a new Google search but searched for Avast again, it didn't work either. I can get in on it, but only through that link you made. I live in Sweden.

I tried getting the program now but I can't seem to download it from either Softpedia or Cnet, because when I got as close to as beginning the downloading my web browser showed me a "connection failure" display.

OK I'll see if I can get malwarebytes as someone mentioned here earlier.

This is most likely the work of a virus. There are certain bugs out here that infect the system and prevent you from getting help by doing this, they kill the browser task right after typing one of the key words from a list or when you try to visit a page.
You could always try to start in safe mode with net functionality and see if the bug still prevents you from accessing to avast. If it doesn't then install avast with the 20 days pro demo option under safe mode and scan your pc. This should help if the issue is a virus.

Download malwarebytes on another system.
Put on thumb drive.
Install.
Watch the positives come in.
Clean.
Hope it doesn't reinfect.

I got rid of it, with Malwarebytes as someone suggested, thanks. I now seem to be able to search for the word Avast again. It wasn't a virus, well, it was listed as a trojan - but of course still malware so it had to be erased.

Trojans can be tricky to remove. Are you absolutely sure you've gotten it all off of your drive? I don't want to induce paranoia but run a few AV scans in the immediate future and run Malwarebytes a few times in the next few weeks just to be sure. Good luck!
