    Icon7 Help!

Hello, I am playing the main campaigne as France, and I am wondering if I could get to the Aztecs as I have unlocked this part of the world but I'm not sure on how to get there. I have read up online that I need to have the Carrack naval ships (which I do have). Also what Infratry do I need to use to capture the Rebel land to the left of Timbuktu?

    Thank you

You need no special troops to conquer them. You must have carrack or grande carrack (lanternas for spain and portugal) and board 2 ships with armies , generals , diplomats , lots of merchants for the trade and very many priests to convert the religion.

As for the land next to Timbuktu, I'm pretty sure any type of infantry can capture it.

If you have already passed the World is Round event, then you should be able to sail down to Arguin and storm the village. I dont think the garrison there is particularly tough, so a General with about 6 units, mixed between melee and missile, should take it comfortably.

    Welcome to the Forums

To get to the new world, you need to have reached the 'World is Round' event, and you need to build a Naval Dry-dock at one of your cities. Then recruit some Carracks, and keep sailing West till you hit land. Bring a full stack army (preferably 2) and loads of priests and merchants, because the Aztec's are very powerful.
As for Arguin (the rebel city west of Timbuktu) you don't need special units, you just have to follow a certain path to get their. Just follow the only path you can take to get their from the green highlighted area once you click your army. Alternatively, you can just sail there from a Carrack. You don't need a particularly strong army, about a half stack will do.

    Hope this helps.

Yes, you have to have the correct type of ship to actually be able to cross the ocean (your Carrack).

You don't need or get any special troops as France, if I remember correctly. The Spanish do get Conquistadors there though.

As others have mentioned, you need:

1- The world is round event I think it's around turn 120-140
2- You need to build the Highest Naval Docyard
    3- The Grand Carrack boats,

Then be prepared for a long journey there, the boats movements are much slower in the dark waters, it's almost if not more half of the movement points compare to moving in regular water.

Usually searching before asking questions will answer all your questions and then you don't have to wait for anyone's reply:

    Spoiler for Arguin

When playing as a catholic faction if you want to capture these regions then it's better to send around 4-5 priests in advance to those regions (to get a easy control over the city after sacking them) before sending an army containing a general of high loyalty. One could also hire African mercenaries if you want to reach there early by only cavalry or only general.
Arguin is not really worth it unless you want to suck all the resources which will come in handy in the later part of the game and a chivalrous general will also help in faster population rise which in turns upgrades your settlement bringing in more income.

    After that event:-
In the building called Dockyard(Doesn't need the world is round event to build)
    • You can recruit Caravel if playing as Spain or Portugal.(Needs the world is round event to build)

You can Build Naval Drydock(Needs the world is round event to build)
    And under this building:-
    • You can recruit Carrack for east euro, north euro factions and for Byzantium, Papacy if playing, sicily, milan and Venice.
    • You can recruit Caravel if playing as Spain or Portugal.
    • You can recruit Grande Carrack if playing as Spain or Portugal.
    • You can recruit Baghlah if playing as an Islamic Faction.

All these 4 ships mentioned above have the capability to cross the Atlantic ocean.
These are all Heavy Warship types and are the most powerful in M2TW.
Also from the above info you can easily see that the Spanish and Portuguese have the advantage to reach the New world before any other faction.

    Cheat way:-
Click on an admiral see his name say Admiral Doyle.
Then open the console and type:-
    Code:
    create_unit Doyle carrack
Separate the carrack from rest of the navy as they can't cross Atlantic ocean and reach Americas early with an army etc.

    thanks, again.
    1. Go to C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign.
    2. Open descr_strat.txt with notepad.
    3. Copy the unlockable factions to playable. Save the file and close it.

Another simpler method is to go in the main M2TW directory default path:- C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War & open medieval2.preference.cfg file with notepad and scroll down to the bottom of the file and place this command in red:-
    Code:
    [misc]
    unlock_campaign = true

    Welcome to the forums, ShmexyNite!

If you want to fight the Aztecs (or, even better, fight --AS-- the Aztecs) it is probably best to get the Americas expansion. I can vouch that it is very much worth the paltry price you will dish up to get a box off eBay. (And I am sure a Steam download is reasonable price and much faster.)

I've spent probably twice the time in the Americas expansion as I have in the original M2TW + Kingdoms (another great expansion) combined. Whether you are itching to beat back the hordes of natives with your superior technology and troops, or send waves of your New World minions to overwhelm the invading foriegn dogs, this expansion is for you. Some factions (like Apache) unlock certain types of troops only after winning strings of battles against foriegn stacks containing those types of troops.

The Spanish, Aztecs, Mayans, Chicmec, and (of course) Apaches are all "must play" factions in this expansion. For more challenge, you can play the tiny (but vicious) Tarascan or Tlaxacan factions on the higher difficulties.

Yes, you can land anywhere that has a beachline. For central america, that northern portion is the only place you can land.
