    Default Need desperate help

I'm playing a version of the game with minor modifications... for example, Muslims can now train Mutawwias and Ghazis in mosques, etc.
The mad was slightly modified, so I could sail to Fortelza as the Moors.

However, once I captured Northern Mexico, now I'm in trouble - the Aztecs besiege my city, and I'm outnumbered. About 4 stacks of ghazis, 4 peasant crossbowmen, 2 stacks of desert archers, 3 stacks of tlaxan mercs, 2 stacks of desert cavalry, and 2 stacks of arab cavalry.
The Aztecs began attacking, with a huge army - over 1000 men. Vastly outnumbering mine.
    What can I do?
The Aztecs are just waiting outside the walls in the battle, instead of getting to the line of fire of my archers and crossbowmen. When I go outside to attack, I fail miserably.

If you cannot bring any reinforcements. KILL AS MANY AS YOU CAN. Even try to get a victory inside your city.

If I was in your position I would put my crossbowmen and archers on the walls (maybe keep one or two units in reserve),put the arab cavalry on the roads inside (to the left and right of the gate maybe even on the middle one) Put your cheapest units to take the brunt of the attack maybe try to make a bottleneck around the gate so the enemy is surrounded, then behind them put your stronger/heavy infantry to back up the throw aways who take the charge. keep your cavalry on the side roads to charge the blob when they are in melee and use your desert cavalry to throw javelins at the enemy in the middle of the blob. then charge them in too (You should probably throw your javelins before you charge your cav).

This is how I would defend.

Almost forgot... make sure you KILL THAT GENERAL!

Can you get anything to lure them in? I want to test this battle. Tell me what their siege army consists of?

Thank you SturmChurro, but unfortuantely it's easier said then done.
The enemy simply will not attack me, unless I send some archers. When I withdraw the archers, they simply revert.
There is no way I can convince them to attack my walls. Thus, their general is ultra-protected. My barely 600-700 men are not enough to kill his 1500 men.

If they won't attack you. Do you have any reinforcements? Maybe you could wait it out till you can reinforce your region?

If they won't come to you you can still try to kill as many as you can.

    You misunderstand:
They build siege equipment. They besiege and assault. But on the battle screen, they simply refuse to approach my castle, and just stand there, waiting for my troops to attack.
They attack on the campaign map, but not on the battle map.

And no, there are barely any troops in Fortelza, and the large armies from Timbuktu, Marrakech and Lisboa would take more than 10 turns to be transported.

Turn on the battle timer when on the campaign map. Go to game options to turn on the timer. If they refuse to attack when they are assaulting the settlement, they should lose (or come up as at least a draw) once the timer runs out.

EDIT: Also, it can't be done during the battle. You have to do it while on the campaign map.

I have never played as the Moors, so I don't have experience with their units, but let them assault your settlement. Have all your archers on the walls, and as soon as the battle starts, send your cavalry out the gate and close the doors behind them, setting your infantry up behind the closed gate. Use your desert cavalry to throw javelins at their general's unit while your arab cavalry make multiple charges against any Aztecs with ladders/siege towers (this way you can easily kill those troops, cause them to lay down that equipment, and your archers will be able to continue fire without entering melee). Once your walls are safe, try to finish off their general with cavalry charges, which shouldn't be too hard since he was hit by javelins. If he is dead or their archers are shooting at your cavalry, charge them to get rid of them. All the while, your archers need to focus on their infantry (or the general if your cavalry have to deal with archers).

    Basically...
1st: cavalry protect your walls, defeat enemy archers
2nd: Kill enemy general BEFORE your gates are broken
3rd: Kill as many of their infantry with your archers as you can (let the cavalry rest for now)
4th: once your gates are broken, your infantry need to be ready to hold them at the gate, and your archers need to stop firing
5th: Cavalry charge into the backs of the enemy infantry that are crammed into the gate, causing a certain rout

That is true. Aztecs have no cavalry. As long as you turn off fire at will and aim just for the general you should get him.

Do you have battle time limit on?

Thanks. Good idea. I'll try that.
