Best way to use parrot/armstrong gun?

Just played a match where i gambled on a parott gun, the terrain was bad as the enemy were on the other side of the valley and it couldnt shoot over it. If i had use another line inf unit i would have won. So how do you use it, do you put it on a hill or just use it for flat maps?

lol, u can use a canon everywhere, on flat land u can lat him alone to shoot, and on rough terrain u use manual aim (h key); BUT u must consider 1 canon unit are 1 high level vet or 2 cheap units, so.... if u meet a good player, he will circle you and kill your canon. Also to bring art. mean less option - u must stay on hold just to protect that gun, thats mind your opponent will have the initiative. And this are bad for u.

I usually only consider taking a cannon unit in teams games on maps that aren't overly hilly. Manual aim allows you to shoot beyond the AI gunner's ranger & conserve ammo. I try to target cav units and infantry blobs (if they're high value). I tried taking out an opposing cannon unit once, but it was too hard to get a direct hit w/my accuracy stats & I ended up wasting a few shots.

Sometimes I bring arty to sit out as a decoy. People will lose way more koku trying to get it off the field than u will spend bringing it.

People will even throw themselves at wooden cannons occasionally.

Dont use them, you will make everybody very happy. However, if you do, don't forget to prioritize your targets:

Their cannons > any infantry units with longer range than your own > cavalry > large blobs of expensive infantry on good terrain > enemy general

I know the community is split on artillery and I very much agree with ur target priority but it isn't fair to tell people not to use a perfectly viable tactic to win. Artillery isn't half as big a problem as 150 range is to balance.

I am completely split on both my enjoyment of armies with and without arty.

If you're going for arty, better just get the armstrong (has better stats for its price).

I bring parrott and armstrong cannons for all my battles. I upgraded them to increase their range which it is very expensive, but very dangerous for against other artillery units with accuarcy to hit them. Reloading can be problem consider ammo can drained quickly in armstrong cannons, but Parrott cannons can beat Armstrong if it has reload skills upload.
