Why are people making the same mistake again and buying into the hype?

CA has stated that the game will be "easier" and more "simple". These words leaves no doubt that this will be a very shallow strategy game with nice visuals.

You can bet the AI wont be much improved.

This game is all about eye-candy, that's what they will focus on and that's what you'll get. Sadly the game will last about 2 days before you get bored to death by the gameplay.

Don't have any hopes, remember RTW I say!

And what about our excellent modding community? If M2 is bad, then they will make it good (if not great).

I know, the modders expanded RTWs life for me by about 1 and a half years, without them i wouldt have continued to play RTW, and thus not joined this site.

I wasnt here back then.

But its opinion really, I think RTW was a great game, while others think it sucks, its all down to personal opinion, but so far no one has said just why RTW sucks.

without being offensive, i think people forget that this is a very competetive industry, and that CA are making a game, at the end of the day in this era, visuals are everything to attract customers, and i truly feel that people should stop being so mean about CA.

How would you feel if somebody said 'your mod's gonna suck'? I would be very sad, and these people at CA are trying to make a living here.

If any offence was taken, my apologies :original: , but i get weary of CA bashing, its simply not nice to the people who work for hours trying to make a game.

I agree. People should stop complaining about CA. They are doing possibly their best. I would like to see many of you guys try to do what they are doing. Sure we may have a talented modding community, but there would be no TWC without CA and their fabulous games. If you hate them so much, then stop playing TW games and just don't even comment on them. Just my opinion of TW, CA complainers.

Oh please stop all this whining the game isn't out yet! Look to the brighter side and stop bashing CA cuz there aint no better turn based RTS yet (imo) than Medieval and Rome (Civ IV is close imo, but it's main drawback is that there aint no 3d battles).
Of course RTW had its drawbacks (nothing is 100% perfect you just have to accept it) like dumb AI, kinda unfinished and sometimes illogical diplomacy and missed some features from MTW (like loyalty later implemented in BI, faction rebellions and reemergencies and some others), but RTW was a huge step forward from MTW including both brand new 3d campaign with more options and superb 3d battle eye-candy. And look at the variety of awesome mods (RTR, EB, SPQR, etc etc.), I can only bow to those untiring modders. My favourite mod right now is DarthMod 7.5, cuz it's all about the gameplay (for me it's the backbone of any game) and improving AI. I call you to give it a try and you'll see what i'm talking about.
My personal opinion about upcoming M2TW: it will be a huge improvement over RTW, both in AI and eye candy, it will be more complicated/harder (on a positive side not micromanagement) considering the fact that CA didn't have to consume time on creating a new engine and many things come from the background of RTW, with great new features of MTW1 implemented and extended. Btw CA has anounced some weeks ago that they are working on AI till the games release and invited testers which is just great So cheers and be more positive

Exactly, people talk about how the AI deteriorates the game, and about the hardcode limits, but they skimp over the good bits, like the excelent mod community, the stunning real time battles, the fact that its the most historically accurate RTS that there is.

If you want a history simulation, invent a time machine.

I thought Rome was good until I read other peoples complaints about it(and noticed how short the battles often were), and saw the fantastic skins in the various mods.

Many people I know, rarely play a game for more than 2 months, so for me RTW has been a bargain because of the Mods.
In my mind if CA blow it, there is bound to be some good stuff to take into Mods. Besides I been a TW fan right since Shoggy and I am to long in the tooth to get caught up in CA hype. I remain neutral about it, in other words not getting to excited but remaining open to the idea that CA might be able to impress me a little!

I do hope if CA can that they try and help the modders, because that's where the real value is to their hardcore historical loving fanbase.

Ps with my computer and 22" monitor I like the Eye Candy also.

Yes, the modders can vastly improve gameplay but the game should be just about all it can be at release. I don't think the game will suck. It might not be the hardest TW game ever made, but it will probably be worth the $50-60 I'm willing to pay for it.

As for MTW2, well, I will wait and see what others say after it comes out, rather than just guessing
