    Default RTR VII Inspiration

I just wanted to say, and I think this was little late to say, well done on the Rome Total Realism Series. I loved the gameplay, and it inspired me to make my own mods.

Recently I joined this forum, so I'm new to the forums. I dont know if this was right to post in your mod thread, but I'm going with it anyways...

I wanted to ask If there was some way, or somehow, that one of your production team could give me helpful tips or advice to help me start my mod I'm currently working on. It is a total-conversion and it is for Rome Total War, but none of the tutorials I look at help me. I can understand them, but I need help from someone who actually "Modded" successfully. I have been into mods for a couple years, and now I want to make my own.

I wanted to set my mod in the Rise of Rome itself (meaning the kingdom and not the republic) and ending with the Republic fall. In other words it goes through Two whole government transitions of Rome.

If a member of the RTR team could help me or give me advice on where to start and how to finish, Ill give the mod their credit and I'd be happy to have the assistance. Thank You.

It depends on your ability but base on the scope of your mod it is quite a large undertaking. You'll need new map and new set of units (which possibly includes models and skins) altogether.

Before checking the tutorials it's worth checking this too.

Thank You for pointing me in the right direction, I really appreciate it. I dont want to ask for the RTR team to give me a direct hand with making my mod, but I will be sure to give thanks to you guys for pointing me in the right direction.

Also, If you have advice for modding certain areas like Improved Graphics in the campaign map, unit reskins, completely 'new units', and other major areas I would gladly like the assistance.

Ive looked over the advice from the other modders, and their words helped out a lot. I know how to mod the game in general (but my only mastered areas are skinning, adding maybe '2' units at most to a faction, and a little bit of region adding though not completely changing the map altogether.

Im only a one man modding team, unfrotunately...
I do have a basic plan of how I want to begin and finish my mod, but I ask assistance from you guys cause you seem to have been pretty successful. If im not mistaken, I think the RTR series has finished? Forever or at least for now, I dont know for sure.

I think its a good time then to ask this, but I really need some people who know the In's and Outs of editing the existing campaign map, improving graphics for the battles, and creating unit models that can be used for historicly accurate early Roman Legions and Greeks (most significantly Spartans).

My mod is set in the Pre-Roman Era. Well, maybe not before Rome itself, but its starting with the birthing of Rome itself. In other words, my mod focuses on the Medditerrainian civilizations at the time of the Kingdom of Rome. Its called Antiquis Roma: Total War (meaning 'Ancient Rome' translated from Latin to English). Everything else will be explained about once its production its close to being finished.

But in order for that to happen, I'll need help. Air-go, I ask if the RTR team (not necessarily all, but maybe a couple people) could assist me in these areas on help me to create this mod.

Thank You for taking the time to read this. I appreciate it.

I'm sorry mate, but the RTR VII is still being developed and the team will continue to look for new challenges. When you want to assemble a team I'd advise you to post a thread in this forum. Good luck!

Oh this isn't very much a problem anymore, this morning I just had a "realization" (you could call it). I will try to put together a team, but I know how to mod now. I mean really, I KNOW how to mod, ha-ha. Ya, I know what to do to put my mod together, but I think I have the hang of it now. Thanks for the advice though.

Whether whether a one man mod or with a team besides ideas, plans, skill etc and have done your research then for me the most important thing is to have a working map running. Once you have a map running then you can do everything else like adding units, buildings, traits and so on.

If you have sufficient skill or have a team that have all the skills to do then maybe you can look at some barebones mod (not sure it exist for RTW but I know one for M2TW) where the game has been strip to the basics to make in running. Basically a blank canvas.

If not then I would suggest to start small. Like modding a mod. Like maybe adding or changing a faction in the current RTR VII mod. Maybe moving the time period earlier by 200 years. Of course the boundaries may have to be change but the current RTR VII should be enough.

Hm, that might be a good idea to start with. But I wouldn't suggest you to try to make a sub-mod for RTR VII. Some systems like the governor trait and LET almost add new 'hard-coded' elements which are very hard to understand when you're not the one who made them.

It might be a good idea to try something like it for a smaller mod. Or you could ask someone to make a map for you, or use another mod's map if they allow you to.

Oh, well I was going to produce a completely different mod, it wasn't necessarily a sub-mod for RTR VII. Although that wouldn't be a bad idea....

Anyways, I already made the map, and it works fine, tested and all. In fact, the map is about Bronze Age Greece, and its rise of its golden age and then its fall from the Persian Empire (not a '300' remake, cause that movie was beyond far historically inaccurate). If you'd like to give me support, you could, but not a must.

I think its too late for me to start a sub-mod, or else I would have to completely stop my mod's production and then look towards a smaller mod. If I do, it might just be something around adding maybe 1 faction to the vanilla game, or creating a new region on the map, I dont know.

I do want to ask though, is their any way I could get the models for Greek armies during the bronze age (not vanilla game files) because its been difficult for me to find a historically accurate Greek combat armor (and historically accurate Spartan gear).

So I wanted to ask If their is a way you could email me models from RTR VII or greeks from any of its sub-mods (cause I'm too poor to afford 3Ds Max) so I could use them in mine. Dont worry Ill give you credit if you allow me to use some.
