Default Creating an introduction guide: worth the effort?

I was once browsing through a site called "Rome: Total War Heaven"(http://rtw.heavengames.com/) and I read these faction overviews they had there, and those very enjoyable reading as they explained a lot about the faction in the game in an "in-game character" style (meaning the text was written as if a councilor from the faction was introducing the reader to the throne of the faction.) Each overview was divided into 4 sections:

1.intro and something about the faction.
2.The factions starting settlements in the campaign map and the buildings in them.
3.Short overview of the factions's unit roster
4.The gods to which the faction can build temples for in the campaign.

Then I thought that it would be great to have same kind of a guide for M2TW and kingdoms. It would cover each faction from vanilla and all kingdoms expansions in the same way, with an adviser introducing the faction to the player, inviting him to rule it. The gods section would be replaced by the factions special buildings section instead.

But then I came to think about, would it be worth it? Would there be more people coming to play M2TW and visit this forum to read the overview guide? Would it be a waste of time?

Please, share your opinion with the matter. If it looks like it's worth it, I'll start working on it next weekend.

IMO it's not worth it, there are already lots of guides out there for vanilla and very few newbies read them (you can tell this by counting the numerous threads opened daily containing questions covered by the respective guides)
    I voted 'NO' .
edit: also, the game is old so there aren't so many new players anymore .... such a guide would be useful for game like Shogun2 for example
Înfrânt nu eşti atunci când sângeri,
nici ochii când în lacrimi ţi-s.
    Adevăratele înfrângeri,
    sunt renunţările la vis.

There are also the wikis with all of this info. except number 3, because all catholic countries build the same churches, all muslims build the same mosques etc.

There are already several great guides on this site.

What is stopping you from making your own? Why not?

It's just that I fear people wont necessarily appreciate it.

Oh I would. Go ahead. It's nice to see how other people play the game.

It's not a "walk through" guide, but an overview for each faction, as the OP says.

If you think that you have something new to bring to the table in a guide, or a better way of presenting the info, I think you should do it.
This also goes if you are actually talking about a comprehensive guide, encompassing every faction.
    I voted yes.

Do, however, take the time to check out other guides and the like before you go ahead with it - lest you might end up more or less copying what has already been done.
Also, it seems to me that you´re talking about something like an AAR that isn´t quite an AAR - maybe you should just make detailed chronicles about the different factions instead of guides?

The guide would basically introduce each faction like in the faction description in the campaign menu, and would also tell about the starting provinces, faction roster and other stuff briefly. Check the website in the OP to see what kind of a guide I was planning.

Why do you want to do this exactly? Is it to become a Citizen?

Although being a citizen would not hurt (I hope), the main reason to write it is that it sounded fun to do.

Well do it, do not ask others if you can or not and like my friend Ishan said, maybe the way you explain things will help some that didn;t understood what other wrote. As for what I meant Citizen, making good quality guides could help you and bring you closer to maybe become one.

Also on a side not you need to be careful for plagia, before posting your guides or working on them make sure to look at other guides and ensure that your guides are not too similr to them. Anyways good luck if you are going threw this and I'm sure other members will help you if needed i.e. Ishan, Nazgul Killer me and others

Thanks. My guide wont be a strategy guide, but more of a faction overview guide, that is in-character (everything is explained by "the adviser").

Ah , I see what you mean. I saw something similar on the rtw wiki , where for example every faction overview starts like ''Hello king/strategos/leader , come to the lands of Juli/Macedon/Pontus blah blah we have the strongest army blah and rich and so
Throw me to the wolves and I will return leading the pack !

I wouldn't bother doing a text guide, if you're going to do it I would recommend making it a youtube tutorial. It will be discovered by many more players, and also helps you figure out if your presentation is good or not.

Its a lot more work but, from my experience, its a lot easier to learn from watching someone do something. Its how I learned to play crusader kings 2, how-to and lets-play youtube videos.
