I was thinking of Installing Ubuntu Linux, to try it out and experiment. I do have a 250GB Hard-Drive with nothing on it, can I just install Ubuntu onto this and i'll have a dual-operating system? meaning on start-up I can choose which OS i want?

What kind of video card do you have? It could be trouble.
I have an MSI Radeon X800 Video-card...
ATI have always been trouble with Ubuntu. Don't expect to play any games on it. Also, I hope you don't have a flat screen.....
Ok, I didnt install the Ubuntu yet... but what is the problem with having a flatscreen (which I do have) Screens dont usually pose any compatibility issues...
Well, the auto detect always screw up with flat screens, and you will have to set it by hand, which is pretty annoying. I had to use command line to get it to realize that there are 1440*900 screens in the world. Once it have been told to do a 1440 * 900, it did admirablely.
My mate has Ubuntu. It's tricky to use at first but when you become used to it it's much better then windows xp. I heard somewhere theres an ubuntu plug-in to let you play games.
I am on fire, but an extinguisher is not required.
