Pool: Pick your favourite Age in the timeline of Arda

Which Age in the timeline of Arda is in your opinion the most interesting and why? Which event is so memorable to you, that you have decided to picked that Age? If you can’t decide, then if you would have to choose one Age of all, which one would you take?

P.S. I'm just interested in general opinion of the forumers. It would be interesting to know your opinions and reasons.

Second Age for me; Why? It's the least known of the 3 (regarding affairs in Middle Earth at least) and there's room for more guessing..

The fifth age, when all supernatural fantasy stuff gets killed and the humans settle for intrigue and war, for power, in a game of thrones.

The first age of arda is one of the great wars between the elves and the dark forces of Morgoth(Melkor). It is an age of great characters and famous and courageous ,but also insanely deeds.
    It is my favorite.

Meh. Good and evil is boring, although a Spartan fanboy might not understand. Yeah, I am pretty sure you believe the vast evil slave hordes from Asia were valiantly defeated by the freedom-minded, enlightened Greeks at Thermopylae.

I hope he doesnt harbor any such illusions because the Greeks at Thermopylae were not freedom minded and their rearguard was massacred. But the first age was better because of the epicness of it and you cant say trying to defy impossible odds isn't something to be admired.

This kind of trolling is getting a bit tiring, to be honest. The other party can also very easily interpret it as hostility. Give it a rest, please.

Do you even know what you are talking about? What was it the Spartans stood for? Nothing admirable - if you'd read any historical texts on the Spartans you'd know they were an oppressive regime of elitist warriors who used the labour of vast numbers of slaves to sustain themselves. Not that the Persians were any better, but saying they stood for freedom is false.

umm they may have been somewhat oppressive in that they killed slaves off regularly. But the slaves could become better off than citizens in other cities in that they also made up part of the merchant class of Sparta. And Stop the trolling this is not someplace to be having this discussion. He never mentioned the Spartans and you brought it up out of no where. You should apologize to Aradan for bringing this up on a Fourth Age forum like I already have.

I totally agree with you there. and Blatta Optima Maxima what is wrong with liking the spartans? i personally adimire some of the things they did... maybe not their motives but there actions are commendable. and the Good vrs Evil thing thats the nature of every conflict. each side thinks they are the good guys and the other guys are the bad guys. Aradan im sorry i know we are getting off topic... but what is your favorite age besides the fourth age?
