    Default 1.5 Patch Error

Hi guys. I've tried to install 1.5 patch to my gold edition. I install, then i try to play a kingdoms campaign. Then it says ''No disc inserted. Please insert the original "Med2GOLD" CD/DVD.'' So I can't play any of kingdoms campaigns. I can play vanilla very well. What should I do?

    P.S-
I installed UK 1.5 Patch Gold.
I tried to open it with discs. But it doesn't work too.

Please look at the emphasis I added to your quote. I looked back at a few tech threads here to see if there is an answer. But the magic Eight-ball says that your "future is dim". Take that as you will...

This message is usually linked to a Securom warning and indicates that the over-enthusiastic DRM that shipped with the original discs has flagged something. Are you sure the error message that you gave us was the full error message? Nothing about a Securom warning at all. This is somewhat crucial - we need to know the full error message.

Now know this - Securom does not like torrent software, ISO software, or anything that even resembles a file-copy program. Do you have anything on your system like that? Daemon Tools, Nero, or the like?

I'll ask for this to be moved to the M2 Tech Thread so that you'll get better and more experienced eyes on this. Good luck!

PS: For reference - This thread. Good luck!

To add to what PoleCat said and we do need answered, installing the wrong patch can cause it.

Are you logged in as Administrator?

If you are trying to click kingdoms.exe and get an error message, bingo, kingdoms.exe is no a standaloe executable. It has to be started by one of the four campaigns included or a mod based on these campaigns.

No. I'm trying to play Crusades. And yes, this was the full error message. When I insert a disc (GOLD disc 1 or 2, I tried both) it says wrong disc inserted. Also I don't have a program like Nero or Daemon Tools.

    Logged in as Administrator?

Have the Crusades ico set to "Run as Administrator" and "XP SP3 Compatible" assuming Vista or Win 7?

Tried updating the dvd-rom's firmware drivers? This has been an issue at times.

Except it wasn't. Look at your error pic that you posted - it has a Securom link imbedded for further details.

What happens when you try that link? Is there any useful info on the other side of that hyperlink? I'll bet that there's some software on your machine that just doesn't like the old version of Securom you're using. Maybe an old game that was around when M2 and Kingdoms was released? Contact Securom and have them check it out from their end - It should solve your problem.

    Good luck!

I have only one idea but you will have to reinstall the game from scratch. Which Windows version are you using?

Well, here goes nothing. It has to be followed to the letter.

    1. Log in as Administrator.
    2. Disable the UAC. http://www.mydigitallife.info/how-to...-in-windows-7/ It an the game are not friends, and if you're the only using your computer, not yours either.
    3. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=397636 from the C: drive icon in Computer.
    4. Unhide all files and folders in Folder Options.
    5. Search and delete all Medieval II Total War folders you can find. Win 7 is known for having two.
5 .http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_...ry_cleaner.htm is my favorite and necessay at this time.
    6. Reboot your computer.
    7. Try installing in C:\Games.

Securom link says that you tried wrong disc. That link isn't helpful.

    Hi irishron
Not sure if this thread is closed but I have the UK Goldversion on medieval 2 on my Windows 7
    I have:
    Logged in as an Administrator
Done Fix solution 3 from the "How To Remove Problems with the Vista/Windows 7 UAC and VirtualStore" link you sent us
Unhid all files and folders in Folder Options and deleted medieval 2 in the virtual store
Installed Eusing Free registry and repaired all of my files three times
    Rebooted my computer.
    And tried installing in C:\Games

But I still get the securom message
    What else might I do?
