Default A Prince's Visit to King's Landing (Open RP)

OOC: Feel free to RP with me here if you want to. This Open RP will be for my character to visit KL for a little while (since he's been summoned here to swear fealty).
OOC: Edit: Keep in mind, when addressing a Martell, it is proper to use "My Prince" instead of "My Lord" for example.

Prince Cyprien Martell leave's the Grand Foyer of the Red Keep, into the Courtyard with his Princeguard at his sides.

Ser Travers, I think I might stay in King's Landing for awhile, to see what this rat's nest has to offer

My Prince, I do not advise this, it is a dangerous city, Martell's are not well liked around here...

Ser Travers Dayne's talk is cut off by a Lord.....

From the shade of the courtyard wall, Lord Randyll Tarly stands talking to a minor lord, though his attention is clearly focused elsewhere, as his gaze is not aimed at the lord. He stands with his back towards the wall, ensuring he has a good view of the young Prince.

Maester Caleotte tells me that he will make a speedy recovery. He just needed to rest for awhile.

As for myself, it was an odd meeting with the King. I could see the eyes of the other highlords upon me. I lament to say what has happened in the past is history. But even now, almost one and 5 years later, I sense the hatred towards my family is just as strong as it was during the war.

Filled with coin, as usual. And prisoners. It's peaceful mostly, with my brother Lancel taking a certain delight in hunting down the criminals with his " Sworn Brothers" of the west.

    Cyprien laughs

Well, that seems about right. The Tower of the Spear (a 150-ft tall tower, which has dungeons below it), is filled with beggars and thieves, in Sunspear. My uncle has been convincing my father to send them off to the Wall. I do see that as a swift justice for the thieves. What good is another beggar without a hand panhandling in the streets? The wall is a necessity, and a cruel punishment for Dornishmen. From hot days, and breezy warm nights, to constant bitter cold. It's enough to deter many a thief.

How fare's your family? All in good health?

    Henry nods
Aye, the wall is a good punishment. casterly rock has recently emptied it's dungeons to the wall.
My family fare well, my father is confined to bed, but other than that they are all heathy. How fare yours?

My mother is well, she keeps to her own in the Garden's, knitting and watching the children at play. My sister has grown into quite a young lady, true at heart, and noble. My younger brother is a ward at Starfall, for Lord Edric Dayne. He is a very intellegent young man, he mimics my father, as I mimic my uncle

Prince Cyprien slights a smirk and continues

And my uncle, well he has not changed much in recent years. Still as hot tempered as he's always been. He's more... Pacifist then he used to be I suppose..

Come, Lord Henry, walk with me to the inn I will be staying at, just outside of the Keep, what is the name of it, Ser Travers?

    The Prancing Pony, my Prince.

Ah yes, that's right. I took a rather.. Expensive suite, good view, lavish accomodations. Suitable enough for myself. I just returned from spending several years abroad, in Essos, serving in the same military company my uncle did, The Second Sons. I am glad to finally be home to Dorne... And Westeros as a whole ofcourse.

Prince Oberyn Martell. A True legend, and a somewhat hot tempered man I have heard. Essos you say? Sounds exotic... And a mercenary company? Sounds like you've got some experience under your belt to me.

I was young then, I saw some fighting, it definitely helped me grow into a man true and true. But ofcourse, my father convinced my uncle to have me looked after while I was in Norvos. My mother's father is the Archon of the city. So I did fight, but only with the consent of Ser Eryk Sand, the company's commander breathing down my neck. It wasn't quite the experience I hoped for, but I got to see much of the continent, which was a grateful experience.

My uncle remembers your father well, often spoke of the Lannister's. True men, with deep pockets he used to say. It is unfortunate that our sides crossed paths in the past, hopefully we can mend the wounds created during that war. Neither of us served then, so we are equally not to blame.

Ser Travers, my Lord-Commander of the Princeguard, he served during the war, he has many a tale he can speak of. I always appreciate a good story or two, and he never seems to tell the same ones twice. That's the experience I hope to have one day, isn't that right Ser Travers?

    Ofcourse, my Prince.

Lord Henry, I know you must be busy with your duties in the Royal Court, but join me for a drink? I had the barkeep supplied with five crates of Hot Dornish Wine. It's got a sizzle to it, but it's to my liking. I don't know if you've tried it before, it's definitely got some punch to it. I don't think it's popular among the highlords of Westeros, but you never know unless you've tried it once

The Prince laughs, as they enter the Inn.

Ser Travers motions Ser Rhaegon Santagar, and Ser Dysun Jordayne to guard the door to the Inn.

Lord Henry, would you like to hear a tale from our side of the war perhaps?

Sigmund walks out of the palace moments later and notices Lord Henry Lannister with someone of the House Martell. He notices it was the Prince, Cyprien. He had not known that the Dornish Prince was in the capital today. He approaches the two and bows to both before they enter the Inn.

Lord Lannister...it is good to see you here.

Then he looks at Prince Cyprien, bowing once more out of respect for the Dornish heir.

My Prince Cyprien. It is an honor to see you in the King's Landing. I am Lord Sigmund Swann of Summerhall and Chief Bannerman of the Stormlands.

Howland Serry never enjoyed official business trips, and even less so when he had to carry out actual business. He had only just stepped into the Prancing Pony Inn, intent on washing the day's troubles from his mind with yet another good stiff drink, when he spied a growing congregation of high lords around the Prince of Dorne. Shrugging to himself, he approached the brewing party. True, the Dornish had never been friendly with his overlords the Tyrells (far from it, actually), but the Serrys as an island house have long been isolated from the politics of the mainland, and though they had fought against Dorne in the last stage of the War of the Usurper, Howland held no bitter feeling against the Martells - they weren't the people he and his forebears had been fighting for thousands of years, after all.

Remembering that all three of these lords ranked higher than him, he made sure to courteously bow to them before speaking.

"Lord Lannister. Lord Swann. And My Prince. It is an honor to see you here in King's Landing."

I'll have some of your Dornish wine, and maybe a tale or two from the war.
    Henry grins at Sigmund's approach.
Ah! Lord Swann! It's good to see you too friend. What brings you here?

Business with the King and his Hand. And I had to visit the High Septon to get a Septon to consecrate my upcoming marriage to Lady Maery, eldest daughter of Lord Leofrick, Bannerman of Mistwood.

My Lord, I do not believe we have had the pleasure to meet. You are just in time for some Dornish wine, and a tale to top it off.

    Ser Maron, if you will

Ser Maron Toland beckons the serving wench to bring 2 flagons full with Dornish wine, and some cups for it to be served in

Greetings, Lord Serry. It is a pleasure to finally meet the Lord of the Serry Islands. How fairs the island home of your house?

He thanks Ser Maron for the hospitality and then looks at Prince Cyprien.

I am pressing my thirties now and have yet to father an heir for my House. Maery is a dutiful and educated woman. Her father, Leofrick, taught her well. She enjoyed the military inspection of the Stormlands...seeing all the sights the land had to offer.
