    Default Mercenary Bands & Contracts

This is where you can find the presently-available mercenary bands and contract them. You will also find their prices, the composition of their troops and any special features they may have here.

'Variable' prices mean you'll actually have to negotiate the price with the company's leader.

Sellsword players may choose to join one of these existing companies or create their own, in the latter case they'll be added here as well.

Golden Company - Commander: Myles 'Blackheart' Toyne - Price: Variable, but always very high - Contracted? Yes (by Myr, contract expires in two years) - Composition: 500 heavy cavalry + 500 light cavalry + 1,000 archers + 2,000 skirmishers + 2,000 spearmen + 4,000 heavy infantry + 60 elephants = 10,000 men + 60 elephants total
Note: Elite company, indeed the best of the best. Highly disciplined.
    Members: Jaime Lyon

Second Sons - Commander: 'Brown' Ben Plumm - Price: Variable, but always high - Contracted? Yes (by Lys, contract expires in one year) - Composition: 2,000 skirmishers + 2,000 archers + 4,000 spearmen + 4,000 heavy infantry = 12,000 men total

    Bright Banners - Commander: Duncan Byrne - Price: 5000 stags - Contracted? No - Composition: 100 heavy cavalry + 400 light cavalry + 2,000 spearmen + 2,000 heavy infantry = 4,500 men total

Long Lances - Commander: Lyman Flowers - Price: 7000 stags - Contracted? No - Composition: 500 heavy cavalry + 3,000 light cavalry = 3,500 men total

    Company of the Cat - Commander: Marq Hill - Price: 5000 stags - Contracted? No - Composition: 500 light cavalry + 500 horse archers + 1,500 archers + 2,000 skirmishers = 4,500 men total

Ragged Standards - Commander: Ronnel Rivers - Price: 6000 stags - Contracted? Yes (by Lys, contract expires in one year) - Composition: 500 archers + 2,500 spearmen + 3,000 heavy infantry = 6,000 men total

Gallant Men - Commander: Ryman Mudd - Price: 6000 stags - Contracted? No - Composition: 500 heavy cavalry + 1,500 light cavalry = 2,000 men total

Iron Shields - Commander: Marwyn Pree - Price: 5000 stags - Contracted? No - Composition: 3,000 spearmen + 3,000 heavy infantry = 6,000 men total

    Maiden's Men - Commander: Artys Stone - Price: 7000 stags - Contracted? No - Composition: 250 heavy cavalry + 500 light cavalry + 500 archers + 1,000 spearmen + 1,500 heavy infantry = 3,750 men total

    Stormcrows - Commander: Prendahl na Ghezn - Price: 5000 stags - Contracted? No - Composition: 1,000 archers + 1,000 skirmishers + 3,000 spearmen = 5,000 men total

    Windblown - Commander: 'The Tattered Prince' - Price: Variable, but always moderate - Contracted? No - Composition: 500 heavy cavalry + 1,500 light cavalry + 500 archers + 500 skirmishers + 1,000 spearmen = 4,000 men total

Brave Companions - Commander: Vargo Hoat - Price: Variable, but always low - Contracted? No - Composition: 500 archers + 2,000 heavy infantry + 4,000 light infantry = 6,500 men total
Note: AKA the Bloody Mummers, AKA the Footmen. Known for unpredictable but manic, sadistic behavior. Not known for reliability.

Isn't it better that this is only available if no Sellswords are?

The above are sellswords, the biggest and most prominent companies at that. You could hire player sellswords of course, but atm there are none, and they wouldn't be able to match the size or power of these pre-existing NPC companies (at the start of their career, anyway). These guys will always be present as your backup go-to heavy hitters (or as your enemies, in the event of a foreign invasion ala The War of the Ninepenny Kings).

IS this companies from the lore cuz then i'll be more soft about it, But really have a Sellsword character. I get the idea here But I fear that It will be hard to come by as a sellsword

Yup, they're all from ASOIAF lore: http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php...word_companies

And it'll be fine for newcomer sellsword players imo, they can offer lower prices than these uber-companies for their starting bands and eventually grow stronger with experience & their paymasters' patronage. Alternatively they could join one of said uber-companies and work their way to the top of their chosen company, winning themselves higher commands all the while.

Oh okay, I still don't think setting a set price for sellswords is that good. Newcommers HAVE to be cheaper.

Of course, but that's because their own sellsword companies won't be as massive as these NPC ones at first (nobody's going to cough up 10,000 stags for a player's 500-strong company). They'll probably be hired first and in larger numbers anyway, the NPCs will have a tendency of getting contracted by the free cities a lot + charge a lot more than player sellswords presumably will, at least at the start.

That sounds plausible. Good good. Great job listing them

What if I wanted to give a permanent job for one of them, in service of the King?

Then you would have to pay the price every year, or keep renewing the contract.

Or if you had lots of money at the time, you could pay them for several years of service. I think for a long term job you would need to pay them a bit more the first time as a way for them to stay with you.

Could I use one of these as an RP element to serve Fendrel? I don't have any money for them, but I do need him to have some troops.

EDIT: I could hire the Brave Companions for a year or maybe two, can I negotiate a price as Fendrel?
