Politics and the Media, A cautionary tale from the UK 2012
Today's revelations from the Leveson inquiry have become the icing on the cake to the sorry collusion between the highest echelons of government, high ranking police and the now tawdry News Corp media group.
Following the phone hacking scandal that bought down the News of the World franchise, at the time the biggest selling Sunday publication the Leveson inquiry has uncovered an astonishing 161 pages of emails between Senior members of the Coalition Government supporting the attempted News Corp buy out of the majority share of BSKYB, Britain's dominant broadcaster.
In particular culture secretary Jeremy Hunt has been particularly damaged by the uncovering of the emails content, it appears News Corps feared that former secretary Vince Cable whose opposition to News Corp dominance of British main stream media was well documented could scupper the process. Therefore Jeremy Hunt was drafted into the role of Culture Secretary and instead of being an impartial judge of News Corp attempt to dominate British Mainstream Media was in a fact a News Corp approved patsy, who championed the News Corp cause.

The rot however is not confined to Westminster, News Corps tentacles reached to Holyrood with the Alex Samond allegedly offering to lobby on News Corps support in return for Media support for Scottish Independence,

The biggest political scandal in British history I would argue is unfolding before our eyes, Murdoch's Empire managed to infiltrate every facet of British politics. Over 40 years both Labour and the Tories it appears did his bidding in return for Media backing with News Corp Executives astonishingly even sitting on the highest of MOD briefings on the situation in Afghanistan.

While evidence suggests that the Metropolitan police actively covered his organisations trail through the phone hacking scandal in return for lavish lunches while New Corp journalists hacked the phones of murdered school girls and war veterans,

The collusion between the MET and News Corp was based on social networks establsihed between senior editorial staff and reporters and senior police officials. The closeness of these relationships is highlighted in the case of former News of the World Editor Rebekah Brooks, a keen equestrian receiving retired MET police horses for her personal stables,

Another and perhaps more shocking example of this stinking relationship between the Police and News Corp may be the case of murdered private eye Daniel Morgan. Like some sort of David Peace novel it is believed the same shady characters behind News Corps hacking enterprise may also have been involved in the murder, and utilised their position and relationship with senior officers to hamper the investigation which continues to this day,

That Britain that prizes itself on being one of the sternest supporters of democracy should see it's senior politicians and senior police cow towed to such a new low personally disgusts me. Who are we to lecture those in the middle east on Democracy when our own system is corrupt to the core and little better than one of a Banana republic.
I feel very strongly about this case and I whole heartedly believe all those involved should be held to account, including the former Labour Administration along with the current Tory led Coalition, That News Corp should be stripped of it's UK holdings and tighter legislation on "Media Baron's" should be bought in while any senior Police Officers involved and proven to be such in a court of law should be stripped of their gold plated pensions and face custodial sentences.
Like I said in previous posts something stinks in Britain and it's not hard to see why, what you see here is most probably the the tip of the iceberg it's time to clear the stable and bring those involved in this shameful mess to justice.
