Most overrated band of all time

Ok what do you think is the most overrated band ever?

For me its the Greatful Dead.
I went to a concert of theirs in the early 70s doing two hits of acid and fell asleep.

Next would be U2. They have a few good songs , but I fail to see or hear anything I consider really great from them.

hmmm, I agree with U2...I hates them

and of course...not for being totaly horrible, but the Beatles are WAY over rated.

They're not "bigger than jesus".

They're not "bigger than Jesus", but I bet they're "bigger than Buddha". Beatles are in no way overrated. They deserved every bit of the reputation they have received.

Most overrated band ever would be... Rolling Stones. Maybe Elvis. I mean, come on, he became famous mostly because he was a white boy playing black music, and to this day I have failed to see his so-called "glorious" musical achievements.

I guess they may have been "different" way back when, but I agree that musically it really isn't great at all, especially compared to the other giants of the time: The Beatles.

I would also nominate Prince. Who? Yes indeed. He was branded a musical genius in the 80s and now has been mostly forgotten.

Rolling Stones is the prime example of the fact that death can be cheated.

For me it would be the Foo Fighters. They only had a couple of good songs from when they started out.

I agree on U2 (though I haven't listened to much at all). I'd add Nirvana, The Beatles (they're good, but still overrated) and NOFX.

I honestly have never heard a Greatful Dead song AFAIK, so I guess they'd be it for me.

KISS was on of the most over-rated bands that I've ever known.

I have to agree about the Grateful Dead. The word I would use to describe their music is "flaccid".

I like U2. You have to be good to survive as long as they have and still be enormously popular. Here's a good song of theirs, if you haven't heard it:

Aw come on Hicks ... the Beatles completely changed music. If the Beatles are overrated, all music is overrated.

The Foo Fighters aren't brilliant, omgwtfbbq, but they are good ... I mean come on, "Everlong" is such a ridiculously good song.

As for my entry, the Rolling Stones. I have three of their albums and they seem, well ... decent. But not good enough to survive what, 45 years? To rival the Beatles themselves? It's just Mick Jagger mumbling something in a microphone. To be hippy, I don't feel it man.

I'd say it's the ACDC.....

AC/DC is underrated imho

Kiss and The Who are both overrated

Edit: And metal was developed by detuning the guitars to make the distinct metal sound. I am pretty sure Black Sabbath was the first to do that.

Edit2: As for grunge you still had bands like Alice in Chains, Nirvana just became a pop-grunge band.

As did Alice in Chains. They too became popular, a pop-grunge as you say.

I believe the first definite metal song was 'Gada da vida'-'in the garden of eden' by Iron Butterflies. But Black Sabbath is the real first metal band.

to be fair they arent that well rated. They are a cult favorite mainly becuase to crazy hippies they are just cool as hell. Never meet anyone who tried to say they were amazing musicians.

KISS was on of the most over-rated bands that I've ever known.

KISS is not known for being great musicians either. They just aparently threw some kickass concerts(can't really judge as I never went to one.)

The Rolling Stones problem is they just keep on going when the drugs have finally left their marks. But I cant blame them. They get paid to do ****** shows, so they continue.

Every band ever since the late 90's. They all suck. They are all overrated. Hop hop, rock, pop, it all sucks.
