    Default My Campaign

In the end i discovered that 100 turns was plenty (on VH/H btw). I completed it in 60 but could have done it in 40-50 but i spent a lot of moves trying to avoid tedious battle that auto-resolve would screw me on.

I started off with one stack (Alexander) and struggled with money, as i took my first cities and went down to egypt the gits stole them back. Hence why i had to go back up before moving on. By this time i had a second stack!!! I used this as a cleanup (taking back cities, killing rebels and small annoying armies) this stack was used to destroy illyria. I continued with good momentum only sieging near empty cities in an attempt to avoid sieges and stick to the battlefield. i used a semi circle (and even a full circle a few times) of phalanx units and stuck cav in behind for most battles. With my other stacks it was more a straight battle line with peltasts behind. As you can probably see (if you can follow the real route of alexander and my expanded mini map) that the route i took was interestingly similar (well the start at least). I really enjoyed the campaign. Some battles became a bit tedious and i was gutted i didnt fight the indian elephants in the campaign but oh well.

Anyway this is my campaign by screenshots:

Nice campaign! I've just conquered Babylon (an EPIC battle by the way), Persepolis, and I've got 40 turns left to win the game!

EDIT: Beaten it now. Was pretty hard/fun really. Shame you have to conquer 30 provinces though...could have done with having been 25 or so, or at least made more Persian cities- you have to eat into the barb settlements to win.

Nice pics, But its Alexander the Great, not the killer. And does India have any presense on the campaign map?

are you kidding me? no sH!t its alexander the great, you think the OP had any control over that? my alexander didnt get the title Great either. i assume you do once you beat the game but now i can't check because my last autosave is the ending. and no, you don't see a single indian in the campaign.

Do you think it might be a trait that eventually turns into "the Great" or do you think Alexander was born "the Great"?

Well he did get the title during his life time.

And No Indians in the campaign? That is ludacriss! What the hell is the point in having them in the game at all, and inclding them under the factions list when they arent even in the campaign? I bet India is rebel.......

yea, i'm absolutely gutted about the indians. Brian blessed mentions it when you complete the campaign and there is an indian city THAT YOU CANT REACH! As i neared the end i looked forward to a showdown against the elephants, but it never came. The final opponets were lame barbarians like the other factiosn i had faced. Why make that faction and not include it in the freaking campaign!!??

yea i don't understand it either.. your talking about the town on the bottom right portion of the map, that town that i couldn't reach was persian for me, never even saw the indian faction logo during the turn cycle. pretty boring campaign imo.

Why are you trying to recreate history in a game that is totally unrelated to it?

This game isn't based on any point in history, it's based on "turn 0" instead.

If they don't allow years back in before M2TW comes out, I won't be able to buy it.

I think a mod to the campaign is needed, nothing major though. If only one thing is changed it should be that the indians are added and that they are the final fight (as it was in history). There should be a good few stacks and they could have 1 for upkeep like the other original armies (i liked that idea). I was really looking forward to testing my veterans against their elephants.

    Well actually, yes.

    And elephants:

I just completed the second historical battle, but not until my third try
This was on VH and i was finding it quite difficult. You must attack persia on the other side of the river. There are 3 crossing points on the river immediately guarded by heavy cav and behind them an entire army (inclduing their own phalanxs). Anyway i fail twice and actually stop and think about what to do. Looking at their army they have phalanx and lots of heavy cav. Therefore my phalanx units would be vital. I kept losing them in the crossing so i decided to save them. Arcers fired flaming arrows at the right crossing and my peltasts helped out. Alexander was nearby as they were far from eager...

After a while (and their secondary army closing in) i sent my cav down the right crossing and quickly routed them.

Then i sent them between the enemy phalanx units and fought and killed their general.

Now i had the right crossing secured i thought units nearly one by one. They were routing nicely now, the site of my bulk of troops crossing was enough to scare them. My phalanx formed a line flanked by the river and advanced. They did very little fighting as their advance just caused everyone to rout lol:

The final result never came out (i swear i print screened ). Oh well, you'll have to believe me it was a good result (i cant remember if it was clear or heroic now).

Well that was a case of 'third times the charm'. The other 2 were not quite as easy. Basically, everyone routed except my cavalry. So it was like 3 cav units against an entire army (including phalanx units). Yes i lost that one (it was quite close though).
