Default portugal or spain?(can chivalric knights be recruited in the late era?)

can chivalric knights be recruited in the late era?

I can't decide between portugal and spain, and am wondering whether the presence of chivalric knights(mounted and dismounted) as well as S&B men is superior to the Portuguese aventuros>tercio pikemen

Portugal , for me is much better ! Their white and blue colour represesnting the cross is just awesome ! The Portugese Abeursiqueurs are the best ranged gunpowder! The Aventuros are a lot better then the tercios. You can also get the Order of Santiago Knights a little easier i think. As heavy infantry , you get the same mostly as spain , but they look more awesome :d !

About the chivaleric knights , i believe so , i'll check it out.

Portugal gets Portuguese Knights, which are the 2 handed shock troop variety on foot. They work quite well with pike formations so overall Portugal has a nicely balanced infantry roster late in the game. I dont recall them having chivalric knights, but as Alexanderos says its relatively easy to get a knightly order with them, so that compensates a bit.

Not to mention of course the Conquistadors that both Spain and Portugal get, if you are prepared to go through the trouble of importing them to Europe.

I prefer Spain, Tercios are,nt likely to charge without permission, Portuguese pikemen are too impetious for my liking.
