Default medieval 2 battles look abit unrealistic

is it just me or does the battles in medieval 2 look unrealistic as somwtimes when the soliders fight it sometimes looks as if the weapons dont go into the enemy soliders body or it doesnt touch them and the enemy troops just die

It happens, but I always thought they died because of fear. ''Nothing is to be feared, but fear" is finally happening .It makes sense to me.

It's a video game. Tiny things like slightly off animations don't matter, and hardly make the game 'unrealistic.'

How is this related to your original topic?

Just so as to give an answer before I will presumably be trolled: Since it's a video game and not real life it doesn't look entirely realistic since making graphics look entirely lifelike is pretty damn hard. As such the game doesn't have perfect physics and sometimes the soldiers in your army will die even though it seems that the weapon missed em by a few inches.

    Now prepare for the trolling.

I know it's not real life and just a game just be good If it was slightly more realistic that's all

So, to be specific, we are talking about the kill animations looking off or unrealistic?
While that is true, it“s because it is (I assume) very hard to make such animations for a game like this - they have to create certain moves for each type of soldier, and make sure that the dying soldiers move in a reactionary manner. Then they must make so that those moves not only happen, but happen synchronized with each other.
All in all, it“s a fairly complex thing to do, and in the end the kill animations will only look really good from the right angle.
(Check out some of the better M2TW tributes on youtube to better realize that the animations actually look good from the right angle)

I think you should praise the creators for putting this much work into it, since they could just have given each soldier type one single attack move and no synchronized moves when a soldier dies.

I don't understand why many people state this ... no, they DON'T look better from other angles, they look the same because the weapon still misses the target; but I don't mind this little 'bug' ....
I don't know if it's just me, but in SS6.4 the animations seem to be fixed

    Yes, they actually do.
Check out this tribute video for some impressive kill animations seen from the right angle:

The biggest problem with this whole thing is that most kill animations are made so that they only look good from one angle, and most people who zoom in on battles are not seeing them from that angle - although, you can just use your imgaination to realize how nice they really are.
Also, I“m definitely not stating that it actually is a problem. Although off, most animations are still very good for a game of this type, and of this age.

actually, lots of those animations that 'look cool from the right angle' look cool from any angle because they sync perfectly in that battle (I think this happens to all of us, not just in my case: sometimes they sync perfectly, sometimes they don't and the animation doesn't look so cool)
    anyway 3:20 is just epic

Making animations is one of the most time-consuming and hardest parts of modding and we shouldn't be whining about it being slightly missing target but we should be grateful it looks this good.

Yeah true that I wouldn't know how to do animation lol but I'm glad that creative assembly made this game
If they didnt make it I would get quite bored since some games are abit too old to play on my windows 7 pc

Also remember this game is like 5 and a half years old

Yes it is about that but still great game to play although if th next total war game that they make was medieval 3 for example would have more realistic combat like in shogun 2
