    Default Hypothetical fisticuffs

A conversation that quickly evolves into heated debate, and one which I have had many-a-time with my friends, as I'm sure you all have. The idea of course being that you take two or more characters from any one or more books, films, etc, and put them in a speculative one on one situation.

    Who would be unbeatable?
Often I think Dr Manhattan, from The Watchmen, though it is usually a better discussion if you avoid god-like characters, unless you pit them against each other.
Who would be the last man standing if the X-Men were to have a free for all? Rouge perhaps? I'll start with that one, feel free to add your take and pit your own fights.

In regards to comics, I'd choose Black Bolt all day, every day. Eschewing god-like characters that is.

The only adversary I think of that could rival Black Bolt is potentially Nightcrawler. He could teleport behind him just as he shouts in his direction, or, given the appropriate battleground, he could conceal himself. In a city for example, if Nightcrawler is teleporting all over the place, it's no good shouting with force equal to a nuke, because the city would be levelled, and Black Bolt would die in the explosion. Let's not forget that Black Bolt dies in an explosion in his universe, so that could be plausible.

EDIT: The Thing may also be solid enough to withstand the shouts.

    Iron Man vs. Wolverine?
Iron Man hasn't prepared any specialist equipment to face Wolverine.

Pff, Black Bolt is a lame guy. There's no central theme to his power, he's just oh so powerful because you know, he's oh so powerful. He's written a bit like Superman in his many, Marty Stu incarnations.
At least heavyweights like Hulk, Thor and so on have serious weaknesses about which you can debate.

I was so happy when WWHulk made BB his , only to then find out it wasn't the real BB ( though supposedly a just as powerful Skrull)

Puhleeeeese. Black Bolt has plenty of weaknesses and issues: his love for his insane brother, his killing his own parents by accident, he can't scream out in pain while fighting. I love BB, he's awesome!

Goku vs. Thor. Now that would be special.

    Goku (Z)

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Powers: Superhuman strength and speed, superior martial arts skill, can fly, can channel energy or 'ki' into various blasts. Can transform up to Super Saiyan 3, each stage makes him vastly more powerful but drains more energy. Kamehameha is a very powerful blast and take a short time to charge, Spirit Bomb takes a very long time to charge, but is powerful enough to destroy a planet.

Weaknesses: Will take on any opponent, too excited by challenge to exercise caution. Transformations and powerful attacks take a long time to perform.

    Thor

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Powers: Ability to manipulate the weather and electricity. Superhuman strength, speed and durability. Can fly. Skilled in use of Mjolnir

Weaknesses: Would only posses superhuman strength, speed and durability, in absence of Mjolnir.

Goku would win that one easily IMO.

A better one would be Goku vs Superman.

I think Superman should be considered as god-like, he can only die if Kryptonite is involved, so no one can beat him unless they have it.

Who would you pit Darth Vader against for a good fight?

    The Presence.

Anyway, I like these conversations, it's the inner super-nerd in me. Iron Man would WTFPWN wolverine every day. Last man standing in the x-men depends on who you include on the roster, there have been a lot of temporary characters. For example X-Man AKA Nate Grey AKA alternate universe Cable. Iceman is pretty powerful though.

I think Wolverine could win. His skeleton is made of Adamantium, which is indestructible, as opposed to Iron Man's suit. Wolverine can heal as well. However, I think if Iron Man were to be very un-sportsmanlike, and just kite around Wolverine out of his reach and fire rocket after rocket, then he would win.

honestly theres really nothing wolverine could do to Iron Man that could defeat him (assuming we are talking about the comic book version). He's stronger, faster, has extremely powerful ranged weapons, and his shields can survive nuclear level damage. He might not technically be indestructable, but to Wolverine he might as well be. Meanwhile only wolverine's skeleton is indescribable, while everything around it is not at all indestructible.

Wolverine was burnt down to his skeleton before and still survived. He might have obvious trouble against Iron Man, but he'd never stop.

Yes, and when he was burnt down to his skeleton I think it's safe to say that he lost that fight.

Well, Wolverine might lose a lot of battles, but he'll keep coming to win the war.

Wolverine would probably lose in pretty much every straight up fight against Iron Man, but Stark needs to exit that suit some time.
