Default The Ildiri Army Choices for the Third Battle

As promised, the Ildiri army for the third Battle. Sorry the units look dirty, but the game is on custom texture stuff, so it actually makes them look filthy.

Please choose up to 9 units maximum for the battle:

The Heron Kingdom is the oldest of the two, the Swan Kingdom being a young Principality, created under the jurisdiction of the agreement made after the elves bound the Dwarves to limit their mining. Heron Kingdom is about 8000 years old, the Swan Kingdom maybe 600 ish.

Heron kingdom Foot and Bow (obviously 2 units, just one picture) - sorry this is an old shot.

Swan Kingdom Foot and Bow (picture of Foot only)

    Swan Prince's Lancers

    Handellan Lancers

    Swan Knights (Ilsithi Imhrain)

    Fires of Undreth

    White Court Guard

    Heroncrest Myrmidons

    Tears of Ithil

    Ilsithi Black Swans

Avatars of Waters Bound (Elemental Avatars - BIG)

    Moonguard

Eiyann Falcons (wings are textured as feathers now, but this photo sadly doesn't show it)

I'll come back and edit some unit details in, but I'm not going to right now.

I've voted . I'd love to have the Heroncrest Myrmidons in there and I don't think I've seen the Falcons or the Water Avatars yet so they'd be great too.

I don't get why everyone loves them so much...they're kind of the weirdest thing I've ever done! Admittedly, story-wise they're nice....for those that don't know, they're the sworn guard of the Ward of Undreth; the war god of the Ildiri.

The Myrmidons are quite cool; they were actually the first unit I did for Dragonborn out of all of them, oddly enough. Along with the Fires of Undreth, they make up the only Ildiri I would term to be an aggressive, 'shock' unit-type. Tears of Ithil are nuts, but they're tactical rather than just tear things up.

There's one or two models that no one's seen.....a fair bit because they're not ready as much as I'd like, but also because I haven't made my mind up on them yet. The Falcons are only possible due to Eothese (as ever for Dragonborn really; the whole thing would've been a non starter if not for him), who you REALLY should vote for in the TWC awards - I bunged him up despite the fact he probably doesn't want to be.

I think I have to change the eagle/falcon model, as I'm not happy with it, which is partly why they're not here - there's 15 of the 20 Ildiri units here. Well, unless I do decide to do more; but that would be odd. There ARE 28 of them altogether, but it kind of gets a bit much for one faction - even if split in two kingdoms over two continents.

For those that are interested, the others are an Ilsithi Swan Chariot, the Maidens of Ithil, Moonarc Leybows, The Falcon riders and the last is a bit of help from the 'Deepwater Ildiri'; a Water 'Dragon' (Imhraith Mhuraun). I'm experimenting with him really, as to what can be achieved through fiddling, and I certainly wouldn't let you see him 'til he's done.

    Voting closes Sunday/Tomorrow.

Looks like you'll have an elite Ildiri force, which may not be a bad thing, considering what they're up against

Cool roster! Voted! Maybe you could ask Undying Nephalin for his flying infantry animation.

POLL CLOSED - well, you can vote as I don't know how to close it, but it won't count

I'm quite surprised by a couple of these, certainly the lack of base/Regular troops....the whole army is Veterans/Elites/Heroics.

SO, the Roster for the battle:

    Swan Knights - 8 votes
    Moonguard - 8 Votes
White COurt Guard - 7 votes
Ilsithi Black Swans - 6 votes
Tears of Ithil  - 6 votes
    Heroncrest Myrmidons - 6 votes
    Eiyaan Falcons - 5 Votes
Avatars of the Waters Bound - 5 Votes

Should be quite naughty. They're fighting Khezdruli (and Infected), so they'll need to be naughty, but they have one disadvantage in that they have no archers at all. Having said that, the Khezdruli armour IS tough for archers to kill them, but the Heroncrests and Swan Prince's Bow use Ley Bows, so lots of shiny blue arrows flying around.

BUT the Swan Knights could well do hideous things to Dwarves, as could the Avatars, and there are units that can match the Dwarves defensively - it's a nasty army to fight against, should be very exciting to see them, and very unpredictable too.

Cool roster! Voted! Maybe you could ask Undying Nephalin for his flying infantry animation.
True, but there are two things....we have them flying already, but the most important is that I wouldn't like to release his work (which is awesome) BEFORE he does, even if he let me, as he deserves for his hard work to be uniquely his when it comes to releasing it. ALthough....there are flappy bird things that REALLY could be useful for the Wolfborn. Eothese's flying humanoid animation is very very cool too!!

One thing I must say Paradamed is that I do love your input in the discussions we have, as you're always supportive and have very good ideas and advice.

Would have been nice to have some Heron Kingdom basic units, but still should be great to fight with an army full of elites .

Hey thanks! I really like to see this mod progressing. Glad to be of any help even if only with some ideas. I had a lot of fun with the custom battles already and I am anxious to play the next release!

It IS a surprising army in some ways, but then you're getting a lot of the cooler stuff, so it should be really up in the air. Depends what Khezdruli choices are made, and then how many units in number are available....it would be SO odd if the Khezdruli outnumbered the Ildiri in numbers!

Have a peek at the Ancestral Guard btw in the Dwarf Roster.
