    Default The Primarch Cohort

It had been nearly a month since Corelis had taken control of the Third Cohort dubbed “the Primarch Cohort”, and it had soon formed into a formidable, if not happy unit. The first week had been one of intense stress with each Century being pitted against each other in a Tournament in the end one led by Calyistos Tomais had taken victory. Thus each century was quickly assigned position With Tomais leading his troops as the Vanguard of the Vanguard.

The Second and third weak had been a battle of mental Fortitude with Corelis attempting to break the will of the Victors, and the Bottom centuries from the Tournament, each Contrubiniums was sent into the wild the single goal “survive” While they were isolated in the forest Cprelis would send other centuries to harass those already there. Paranoia would increase until some groups went into a paranoid state and began to attack each other. Corelis would calmly step in, Deal with the situation, and lead the men out of the forest, by the last day of the exercise only two Remained, one Conturbinium under Tomais, and another from the other Century, Led by Alicor Dantus.

After the end of the exercise Corelis would spend the last week reorganizing the Cohort into a more simplified form.
    1. The Vanguard : two Contrubiniums led by Calyistos Tomais
    2. The Mid Centuries: 2-4 Centuries led by Corelis Danius
    3. The Reserve Centuries 1-2 Centuries Led by Alcor Dantus
The Vanguard was meant to be an Experimental Spearhead for the Cohort, to shatter the enemy troops.
While this occurs the Mid Centuries would move forward to crush resistance to the Vanguard while retaining Organization. `
The Reserve Centuries were to be used at last resort, to aid the Mid Centuries if ther push is halted, or to Be a rearguard if the Mid Centuries are forced to retreat.
After Finally have Completed the Organization of his troops Corelis sent a messenger to Lucias
Imperator Lucias, when you have the chance please meet me, and my Cohort I wish to show you what I have developed
Corelis Danius, Leader of the Primarch Cohort.

Lucius received the message and assembled his retinue to inspect the troops. He had high hopes that at least the third cohort of the 1st legion would prove to be especially fearsome. To have the son of a Senator among them would no doubt add an air of nobility to the ranks of the third cohort. Lucius mounted his black warhorse and trotted over to the drill fields, where the cohort stood in their practice arena. Lucius spotted the group of centurions and rode up, dismounting.

Ave, Centurions. how goes the drilling?

Abruptly one of the Soldiers looked up and began to laugh
haha éna látin se éna álogo!
only to be abruptly smacked on the back of his head
na kleísei! ah Lucius its wonderful to have you here, It goes well.
Corelis quickly moved his hand across towards his legion
The Primarch Cohort have proven themselves incredibly adaptable, Please come and see what I have developed.
with that Corelis awaited for Lucius to follow

Lucius returned the salute lazily and walked forward.

As I'm sure you have heard, we have won a victory in the north, centurion. But winter is coming, and the Celt-Iberi have long evaded battle in the hills. We will bring the fight to them. I hope you have been drilling them in combat over uneven ground.

    Corelis Grinned at the question
They have been trained for terrain, and for Terror and that is why I called for you Imperator, I may have developed a new style for the Cohort, if you allow me to show it to you...

    Cohort! Report!

In an instant the Men were quickly alert and marching to there Centuries. within only a few minutes the men had begun to form what looked like an Arrow, and within seconds after the shape began to take form the Man in the front of the formation shouted

    Vanguard Ready!

The Men had moved into three conjoined bodies, the First looked like the tip of a spearhead, the second looked somewhat like an oval, and the third looked like a Bowl

Imperator, the Design I show you has yet to be battle tested, but from what Ive seen it looks to be an incredible sight
    The Vanguard

Corelis pointed toward the front of the Cohort
Is to shatter the enemy at specific point, and then they are to be followed by The Block
Corelis pointed towards the center of the Cohort
The Block is to Widen the breaking point of the Vanguards and Allow the rest of the Legion to exploit this hole in the enemy, it is also to Aid the Vanguard in case of Disaster
Corelis now pointed at the Back of the Formation
Finally the Plug, the Plug is to protect the Flanks of the Bulge, and to be used in the off chance of Catastrophic collapse. they are to be a Shield to the Block, while the Vanguard is to be the Spear.

Corelis now looked at the Imperator
What do you think of it Imperator Lucius?

It is unorthodox, but inventive. We might have some use for it when we encounter the spear infantry of the Celt-Iberians. The Plug, is it? The Plug would do well not to tarry in guarding the flanks, however. The forward men are exposed, and if they stay that way for too long they cold easily be overwhelmed by a countercharge by the front lines.

The Point of the Plug is to Keep the Rest of the Organization stable, rushing them up to the Vanguards may cause the Celts to be able to trap the entire Cohort.
Do not worry about the men in the front, after they pierce the enemy lines, they are to slowly reorient themselves with the Block, making it increasingly impossible for the enemy to destroy the gap in his lines.

This appears to be a tactic that would work quite well against massed infantry formations. We will be encountering the spearmen of the Celt-Iberians before long. We will put this tactic to good use against them. Will it perform as desired in uneven terrain?

Perhaps, Uphill battles would likely exhaust them, as they would exhaust any other army. so long as there is not a dense forest in the way, or enemy Cavalry, it should work fantastically.
We have not performed it anything above skirmish level fights yet, so my alarm is that I do not know how the Celtiberian army shall actually respond the tactic in force

A mountain has exploded or some such nonsense. Surely the reports are exaggerated. Mountains do not just explode. We have much more pressing problems to worry about than a fire mountain. We are moving to attack the Celt-Iberians next week. I am counting on the legions being ready to march.
