I`ve had enough of CA`s bad workmanship- Now Saves simply won`t work- At all.

Ok, I`m getting tired of putting up a new thread every time I find a bug. Maybe here CA might see and do something about it. It`s getting so bad now I`ve decided to place the ones I`m finding in Single Player campaign domination (Played Hard and Legendary with realism settings) mode here.

Bugs found....

1. Autocalc is screwy- badly. It`s affecting the game the longer played. Sometimes it will decide that even if you win, it gets one of your units. For instance I autocalced a sure win battle with my Warrior +ships navy and I won. But I discovered that the retreating enemy ship actually took my Warrior with it! Next battle he had my Warrior. I had to build a new one.

2, I`ve also noticed that in a land battle where I had cannons and he had none, when I had one, I lost one cannon and next battle (when I chased him down) he had magically gained a cannon. Similar to Autocalc but it happened through an actual battle I was in. Something`s wrong with how it`s calculating end results sometimes- it`s allowing the Loser to capture equipment when it did not.

3. If you try to disband a General it sometimes causes the game to crash. In one case where I tried to disband a General in a city the game crashed repeatedly (freezing and forcing me to alt-tab out) until I just gave up and left him there.

4. The do-nothing siege bug still happens sometimes and I was able to follow it to see that a last lonely AI Parrott gun was stuck by the border which my men could not dislodge due to some invulnerability. I was forced to quit as my men were too knackered and my only strong men were fought off by the Parrott gun crew!

5. BAI parrott guns don`t know to stop and deploy once they start moving in battle.

6. I saved about mid game. tried to start a continuing Campaign today and the game simply freezes briefly into the load bar (about 10%). I tried the AutoSave which was 15 minutes early to my main save- same thing. No save will work. I have gone into Steam and rechecked the files and also defragmented, etc and still the game freezes while trying to load. my whole campaign- BLOWN.


Now FOTS is unplayable literally. I simply cannot play the game and I`m not not starting all over again. what`s the point if the whole problem happens again? this game could be good if it wasn`t for the bugginesss.

Please fix this or give my money back. You shouldn`t release something so badly tested. did you only beta test Online and not the Single Player game? I can`t believe you guys could produce such shoddy work that runs for a while then quits like a Shark-sold car.

Please fix this or give my money back. You shouldn`t release something so badly tested. Did you only beta test Online and not the Single Player game? I would advise anyone to carefully re-consider buying this game as it`s like a ticking time bomb waiting to self-destruct.

Just for interests sake, could you rename the auto-save file and make a new one and see if it loads? Just to clarify if it's a glitch in the current campaign or something else...

I have no idea where the save files are kept.

I`m sick of my time being totally wasted and I don`t think CA give two hoots any more. i`m off to do something more worthwhile with my free time.

I can understand your plight but it seems unfair to say bad workmanship when these problems aren't exactly widely reported.

I have had no such problems, and I have yet to see other people with these same issues. That being said, these issues are somewhat odd.

hmm can't say I've heard of save game errors like this before in FOTS.

To find your save games you need to go here:

C:\Users\*YOUR USERNAME*\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Shogun2

If you can't find your appdata folder its because by default Windows makes it a hidden folder, to reveal it read this:

I appreciate your words, all, but I`m too frutstrated to bother. I had a look, but can`t see it and I doubt it`ll work anyway.

What`s really annoying is I have done nothing to the game since I saved yesterday and started today- NOTHING. So to suddenly have the door slammed in my face makes me very angry.

Perhaps it`s meant to be. I`ve spent too much of my life (10 years) wasted on a company that obviously doesn`t give a about its long term fans when it comes down to it.

One problem I do have is that I can't ever finish the osaka castle because it keeps crashing when I try to scale the walls. I have never has shogun 2 crash ingame until that stupid historical battle so I'm not aloud to play the other battles.

I'm tempted to change the game files so I can unlock them but that kinda feels cheap to me.

As long as you bought the game, CA couldnt give a rats ass about what you think because your going to buy the next game and the expansion pack anyway.

Is there really a need to have a wee personal dig? I may not always agree with Humble Warrior (especially re: steam) but there's no doubt he's an important part of this site and a valued contributor to discussions. I'm sick of the attitude that wants to utterly erase and drive out anyone who thinks differently plus the enormous egos that feel they NEED to come into a thread and give their unhelpful two cents. This is destroying what used to be a great place for debate.
