Favorite Faction- Discussion

It's very simple, which faction is your personal favorite and why?

Personally, the faction the most appeals to me is undoubtedly the Ptolemaic Kingdom. Egypt's legacy spans thousands of years, from the great Pharaohs of old to the monuments they constructed. My goal is to uphold the legacy set by those who have come before. Long live the Pharaohs.

Well, before you get told that 'favourite faction' has been asked a million times already and given links to all the threads I might as well say...
Dacia because it's got a great mix of units which can munch on the Roman legions and it's position means you get to fight barbarians, steppe and hellenic factions all at the same time quite early on.

Rome. If I wanted to play other factions I'd play more recent total war games. Sad but true.

Even if my ol' pc could handle those recent tw games i'd still play roma surrectum for the sake of playing rome

Bringing civilization to barbaric folks is just awesome...

Rome is my favorite faction they got boring in vanilla as it was too easy but now with RS II its really challenging.

I did make a reference to RSII in a Shogun 2 thread a few hours ago - having named and numbered legions.. it just brings so much soul to the empire. It feels very personal to win or lose as Rome. I need to force myself to play other factions (Especially Massalia, I want a piece of that starting pos) but Rome is .. I don't know, it's Rome. Best.

I love gallaeci, I love the mobile versatile armies, and a light infantry/cavalry army mixed with a few heavy infantry holding the centre just seems unbeatable. Falarica infantry are BEAST. Flaming spears (that wreck enemy morale) and the ability to take on most infantry units, what more do you want?

They've just got the perfect blend of missile light and heavy troops. There's no weakness I can find, and they start with the brilliant Spanish mines.

The Seleucids. Fighting against history, not to mention everyone is worth it.

The kinds of units available make them worth playing as well.

Also, destroying the Ptolmaic kingdom in under 20 turns with one army is great as well. Since that's all it takes, even on the hardest settings.

Just been playing a Boii campaign for the first time. I've always avoided them before as they looked to be the most dull of the barbarian factions to me and in the worst location.
Wow I was wrong, they are really fun - lots of battles, standard celtic barbarian roster in the west and then you start eating Dacian towns and you get Royal Scythian horse archers and all sorts of other nice new units as part of your normal roster in the east (well, I guess most of you know that already but I didn't).
I think they just went from bottom to near top of my list now.

if there was a faction with carthaginian tower elephants, armenian nakharar cavalry and sarmatian horse noble archers then it would be the best faction ever
