Crashes on Campaign Map

Greetings,

I recently did a full reformat and upgraded to Windows 7 from XP. I have now found that Shogun 2 crashes semi-randomly on the campaign map.

Symptoms

Game freezes
Mouse still functions, but nothing responds
Music, ambient sounds &c continue
Ctrl+Alt+Del restores the desktop
Error Message: Shogun 2 has stopped working sucks to be you etc etc
OK dialogue, Shogun 2 exits

Triggers

Always on the campaign map, never in battle or menu screens
On two occasions, a crash immediately followed clicking on the diplomacy window
Was also triggered once while moving a ninja into unexplored territory (maybe encountering new clans?)
At other times when I didn't note what was happening
Both dx9 and dx11 mode.

I humbly present my DxDiag.txt as tribute and would be grateful for any suggestions.

It takes more resources for Win 7 than XP but then, again, this game is turning into a [ain in the rear for 32bit either way.

Cpu minimum in my opinion and odds are bottlenecking the gpu, and anything minimum will crash at some point.
2gb ram is minimum for Win per CA's posted specs and anything minimu will crash at some point.

When you upgraded to Win 7, did also,
1. Update the motherboard drivers?
2. Activate your copy of Win 7, and
3. Run Windows Update and install software options?

Update the High Definition Audio codecs at www.realtek.com.tw as yours are past old.

Minimize your graphics settings and unit sizes and give the computer a fighting chance.

Game Booster will also help some.

Just managed to have a look at the mdmp files. Error code: 0xc0000005. "The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access". Looks like some kind of memory issue?

That is exactly what that error code is in 32bit.

Another 2gb of ram and the 64bit version of Win 7 would work wonders if you can afford the upgrade.

The original plan was to get another two gig when I upgraded to Windows 7, but things started dying prematurely so I had to get it earlier. So yeah, another two gig is coming.
