Problem in the Campain!

Hi Guys I installed BC and i really like!

thanks so much for the great job done!

I try to play wth the ERE, as first campain....but the start money are.... -50000!!! it's right? all the other factions start with a positive balance!
can you told me, how can I Fix? or it is not a problem but has some historical reason

It's for game-balance reasons. You have so much territory and therefore so much income that the Romans would otherwise squash everything that moved.

At this stage in history the empire was at its last peak and had greatly expanded its territories at the expense of the Turks of Rum. However, their hold on these territories was tenuous and outside of cities turkish raiders still pretty much had free reign. Plus, a few years after the start of this mod the emperor got ambushed at Myriokephalon while marching on the Turkish capitol. He survived but lost his army and got sick and died soon after and things quickly went pear-shaped for the empire.

So basically the money-thing is to show that though the empire at this stage is big, its hold on its territories is precarious and it has difficulty matching the sultanate of Rum next door in a fight. It's kind of a quick-fix though, since in the game there are no degrees of holding territory and all those lands give the empire a lot more income.

I imagine this problem will be solved in the next big version where Anatolia will have fewer provinces.
