Total war shogun 2 wont make it past the intial loading screen

Hi ive recently bought shogun 2 and have been dying to play it, i bought it from origin and used steam to run it, i have a Toshiba qosmio g50 its 4 g of ram and navdia g force 9600m gt its also a 64 bit, i have no idea why this game wont work my laptop is classified as a gaming computer. i was told it might have something to do with some sort of graphic memory, and also to post my systems setting online.
