Hi all TW fans / Have a CTD issue

I have been playing Napoleon total war by downloading it from thepiratebay and really enjoyed it and wanted to go multiplayer so I decided to buy it.

It ran perfectly on the crack version except I couldn't play online.


I got my game today and noticed it crashed when I wanted to play battles online and single player. I searched for a solution on google and found out many people have same problem, the CTD problem.

I have so far tried the CMD option - http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ris+workaround without success.

One thing that has worked was when I changed in the NVIDIA control panel on 3-D settings for TW Napoleon. I changed to integred Graphics and it worked. The thing is I get to play on very bad graphics and its bad when I can play on top graphics instead.

I tried to learn how to post a list of my computer info but couldn't find nothing.

Here are my important information:


Core i7

Windows 7

Nvidia GT 555M 2 GB VRAM


2.2 Ghz with turbo boost up to 3.1 GHz

16 GB DDR3 Memory




I have always been a TW fan and loved to play medieval 2 the most. I have got stuck with Napoleon TW because of the amount of strategy you can use and the effective game play.


I hope I can solve this CTD problem and enjoy TW napoleon online because I love this strategy game. I appreciate and am thankful for every help and tips.

Uninstall and delete the crack copy and have Steam install the legit copy afterwards.

This includes ALL Napoleon folders, including the ones in %appdata%.

No help until you do.

Once done and still can't play post your dxdiag.

Cleaned it completely and removed all dataapps etc. followed instructions on internet and did it precisely.

I installed Steam and the game with the CD's. Did it twice today and cleaned everything up and still din't work.


Now I'm trying to download the game from steam and skip installing it with CD's. I have also installed steam like the administrator. It has worked fine with the cracked version with top quality but now its really bad.

My DxDiag is attached now.

To be more precisly i removed

TW -Napoleon in Creative assembly studio from C/User/... etc.

All folders in the Programs(x86)


Searched for Napoleon and steam to verify i deleted everything

Alright I managed to get single player battle working, what a suprise!!!


I did:


Cleared everything

Downloaded first steam then from there downloaded TW napoleon (Not on CD's)

I updated my drivers with the BETA nvidia


It was so sweet to see the beautiful pure graphic!!


I now hope it will work online

Well, this game hs been updated six times or more since release and won't show up on a illegal copy anymore than the demo.

1. Try updating the 555M drivers at www.nvidia.com. Latset Betas are supposed to be good.
2. Try updating the High Definition Audio codecs at www.realtek.com.tw as some versions do conflict.
3. Try updating the motherboard drivers.
4. Run Windows Update manually and install all software options.
