You can play MP, no idea how. I know people used to play MP on 2.0 a while back.

Just like regular Rome. Make sure both parties have the same version and it's as simple as going online.

Having the same install is very important. In fact the install should be identical - there are some differences that are allowed such as the preferences.txt file but everything else needs to be the same.

This includes minor things such as the map.rwm files. it may be best to delete those.

It maybe best to have more than one RSII install. One to play campaigns in and the other to have just for MP. That way it should be easier to have the same install with MP.

For ages we were trying to get RS to work with MP and no-one was able to get it to work. This was despite the assurances that they had 'vanilla' RS installs. In the end I got together with a work mate and created two exactly the same installs on our laptops and managed to play MP with RS.

So you're saying we'd both need say a rtw gold install patched at the same version along with rs installs, patched at the same versison. A mod such as this one adds quite a bit of variables when considering multiplayer mode apparently.
