Empire Darthmod UC installer refusing to start

Well it's fairly simple, I downloaded the DMUC 6.2 installer and double clicked it once it was downloaded to start the process. After about 4 minutes of my laptop freezing and going crazy I get an error message, saying

''The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.''

I am by no means no computer technician and I know that the fault lies with my laptop and not the installer, but I have no idea why this is happening. So anyone with PC tech knowledge who wants to help me, I will award you with all the rep you can desire

can you post your PC specs here? I had something similar with Europa Barbarorum, my laptop could not open the installer nor move it nor delete it.

You should probably ask around the DMUC forums too.

Check the hard disk concerned for errors. If it still doesn't work and other downloads are OK then download it again. And then if it still isn't working then search in the thread for it. And finally post in the thread.

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
Machine: HP Pavillion Dv6 Home PC
Processor: AMD Turion X2 Dual Core Mobile RM-74, 2.2 GHz
Memory: 3068mb RAM
DX: Directx11
HDS: 230GB (103 used)
GC: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500/5100 series, 1784mb

I have never had any issues with TW games in terms of running them on this machine. For example I play FOTS daily very comfortable on medium settings. I will try and redownload the DMUC installer now though. I will also try downloading something different to see if the fault is further.
